We don’t think we can say enough about our positive experience at Bartlett Beginnings. The birthing units are beautiful and incredibly comfortable, and they have all that you need to work through labor in a variety of ways. Trusting the person that’s there essentially delivering your baby, along with the physician, is huge. As a health care provider, I know how integral trust is to a functional patient provider relationship. And they checked that box tenfold. To have everything come together, a beautiful experience with a knowledgeable staff, made it one of the most incredible experiences of our life. — Andy (new dad) and Bea Dietrick, new mom and family nurse practitioner Bartlett Regional Hospital is seeking more #PatientsofBRH To share your story, please contact Community Relations Director Katie Bausler, kbausler3@bartletthospital.org

Judith Raye Jones

February 1, 1943 – August 9, 2018 Judith Raye Jones passed away on August 9, 2018, at an Assisted Living Facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Judy was 75 years young. Her life was tragically cut short due to the ravages of Alzheimer’s. Judy was born in Tacoma, WA, on February 1st, 1943, to Raymond Robeson and Lucille McCall. She had one little sister, Sue Cameron, who she adored. Until the age of 12, Judy and sister Sue were raised by their parents in the Pacific Northwest. One day Ray, Judy’s father, read in a magazine that there were two positions open at Juneau Florist in Juneau, AK. So, in 1953, Ray packed up the family and they flew via Pan Am to Juneau where they immediately moved into a cramped one-bedroom apartment next to the florist’s greenhouse. Judy graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 1961, with a very close-knit group of classmates that she loved corresponding with over the years. Judy’s first full time job was with the U.S. Forest Service. Judy married Gerald Jones in 1963 and they moved to Ketchikan, AK, for a year where she worked as a telegraph operator and he as an engineer. In 1964, they moved back to Juneau where she eventually became The Clerk of the Court for the newly combined Juneau court system. In 1977, she and her friend Rita Stoinich opened up their own secretarial firm, J & R Associates. In 1965, Judy and Jerry had the first of their two sons, Wesley Stanton Jones. On that same day she met her lifelong friends Noel and Shari Grant. Coincidently, Shari was also giving birth to her first son. Shortly thereafter, in 1968 Judy gave birth to another beautiful baby boy, Forrest Allen Jones. Both boys followed in their mother’s footsteps and went on to graduate from Juneau-Douglas High School. In 1987, Judy and Jerry moved to the foothills of Yuma, AZ, next to a beautiful golf course and desert landscape. Judy worked for Arizona Western College as a secretary; which provided her the opportunity to get her Associates degree. Judy was always active and on-the-move and even up to the day she passed assisted living staff could not keep up with her. She was affectionately called “Biking Judy” by her Yuma friends because of her love of the sport. Judy was also extremely proud of the sobriety that she held on to for the last 38 years of her life and she was grateful to be able to help countless others achieve their own sobriety. Judy is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Jones, her mother and father Raymond and Lucille, and her sister Sue. She is survived by her sons Wesley and Forrest Jones and six grandchildren, as well as her nieces Toni and Sandy and her nephew Billy Cameron. For everyone out there who knew Judy remember this: her favorite phrase to wake her sons up to in the morning was “Rise and Shine!” This is exactly how she lived her life. Shine on Mom. You are loved and missed by so many. In lieu of flowers, Judy’s family requests that you send donations to the Gastineau Channel Historical Society (PO Box 21264, Juneau AK 99802) in her name. She cherished the honor of her family being recognized in the Gastineau Channel Memories Vol. II. In accordance with her wishes, her sons will have a celebration of life and her ashes will be spread in Juneau at a date and time to be determined (summer of 2019). All who knew and loved her will be welcome to join in the celebration.
