Today’s Visitors Today we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Barmouth & Dyffryn Utd, for this afternoon’s Welsh Alliance Division One match.

Congratulations to the Club for reaching the First Round of the Welsh Cup after a penalty from Llyr Hughes and a last minute free kick from Rob Burfet was enough to see them through 2-1 away at Spar Mid Wales League club Carno.

Sadly we will not be joining them after a 3-1 defeat away at Brickfield Rangers in the 2nd Qualifying round but we wish Barmouth all the best in the 1st Round proper.

Barmouth will be celebrating their 150th Anniversary this year with events including an evening at the Min Y Mor Hotel on Nov 2nd with guest speaker the man from Mochdre, ex Welsh international and Chelsea, Man Utd, Stoke & Wrexham player (amongst others) Mickey Thomas.

Barmouth visit us today sitting just 6 points ahead in 11th position with 7 points on the board with 4 of them coming at home and one away win out of 4.Obviously we are hoping their indifferent form away from home continues and Junction can hopefully take advantage and notch the first league win of the campaign.

Barmouth & Dyffryn United F.C The club was founded in 1863 shortly before the FAW was formed, The Club have such an extensive and proud history that we could not feature all of their achievements in this programme. We pick up their more recent history when they became Champions of the Caernarfon & District League in 2002/03 to return to the Gwynedd Football League and the success continued with the side finishing third in 2005/06 only to win the League in 2006/07 under Player Manager Craig Papirnyk, but were denied promotion to the Welsh Alliance Football League due to ground criteria.

Season 2007/08 saw the club win the NWCFA Junior Cup, the Gwynedd Leagues' Eryri Shield and became finalists of the Welsh Alliance Leagues' Barritt Cup but were narrowly pipped to retain the Gwynedd League title by Llanllyfni that sparked a huge row when Llanllyfni were given promotion to the Welsh Alliance League having an inferior ground to Barmouth.

Spearheaded by Chairman William Huntley and Alun Foulkes who had returned to the club as Secretary, the club successfully appealed to the FAW and the club took up its position in the third tier of Welsh Football for the 1st time in 35 years and the club has never looked back.

With Brian Harvey back at the helm, the club finished tenth in its first full season that was made up entirely of home grown players.

In Season 2009/10 the club finished a creditable fourth, after being in the top two until the final three matches of the season under the guidance of Manager Iolo Owen and assistant Steve Smith. The reserves who were reformed in 2007/08 and after two years of struggle, won the Caernarfon & District League under manager Dan Papirnyk jnr. and assistant Dickie Sharp and reached the final of the moorings cup. Season 2010/11 Barmouth finished in 14th place and just escaped relegation on the last day of the season, with a 2-2 home draw against Llandudno Junction. 2011/12 season Barmouth again struggled in the league and looked certain relegation candidates in January, but a remarkable run of seven consecutive wins saw the club ease away from the drop and finished mid-table. The season also saw Barmouth have a good Welsh Cup run, beating Aberdyfi, Hawarden Rangers and Ruthin Town before unluckily losing to Caersws.

Last season 2012/13, the club had a new management team of manager Dan Papirnyk jnr. and Stuart Pilling as assistant, who replaced Iolo Owen due to his work commitments. And what a good season it proved, after a fine start with an impressive series of results the Magpies were league leaders in October and November before the bad winter weather intervened, Barmouth were playing only once every two weeks and their form dipped, before slipping down to a well deserved fourth position.

This season Pete Griffith will be assistant to Dan Papirnyk with Stuart Pilling and Carl Ryan taking over coaching duties. And the reformed reserves will be playing in the Caernarfon & District League.

Firstly, I would like to Welcome the players, officials and supporters of Barmouth & Dyffryn Utd F.C to the Flyover for this afternoon’s match and hope you enjoy your day here in Llandudno Junction. You are all more than welcome to join us at the club sponsors Maelgwyn Public House following the game.

We are going through a frustrating run of results at the moment and it is sad to see that we only have 1 point on the board after 6 games albeit as a result of an excellent draw away at Glantraeth.

It has proven difficult to field our strongest teams each week due to work commitments and holidays etc but we are hoping that the chance of a couple of new signings coupled with players becoming available again will see us start to collate some more points and progress up the table.

All at the club have confidence that the manager Matt Jones and his team can start to get the best out of the squad and hopefully, starting with today’s game, we can start enjoying our Saturday evenings again.

We have a lot to be positive about here at Llandudno Junction FC .The performances of our reserve team are promising especially when you consider the majority of the team are just 16 years old. They are certainly holding their own in the Reserve Premier League and are playing with pride and passion. The Club’s junior section is going from strength to strength and with the start of the junior season last weekend we have 12 junior teams taking part from under 7 through to u16 and we are currently looking at fielding at least one more junior team in the next few weeks.

Improvements are progressing well at the ground with the junior pitch looking well and will be ready to play on next season. The canteen has had seats added and a new floor fitted and the addition of an office to enable us to carry out the smooth running of the club. There are more plans to improve the interior of the canteen area.

All of the buildings have recently been painted “Arriva” blue, courtesy of Arriva Buses Wales. The future is certainly bright for the club, All we need now is 3 points for the 1st team today.

I would like to Welcome you all to The Flyover for our Welsh Alliance League game against Barmouth & Dyffryn Utd. I would particularly like to welcome players, officials and supporters who have made the long journey from Barmouth.

Today will be only our second home game of what has been a very tough start to our season.

As the manager, it has been frustrating to see some very good displays and excellent football let down by patches in games where we have simply not been good enough.

This has seen us struggle to pick up points and sees us rooted to the foot of the table.

As we look for our first win of the season, we have been working hard to ensure we stay focused on moving up the table.

It is time for all of us at the club to pull together to ensure we do not endure a season like last year.

What has been very pleasing so far this season is the outstanding progress of our very young reserve team who have shown fantastic attitude since the beginning of the season and have picked up some excellent wins.

I am very excited by this crop of youngsters and over the next 2-3 seasons, I envisage a number of them cementing first team places.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of the Team and the whole club.

Llandudno Junction FC are a huge part of the Community with over 150 local Youngsters playing football for the club. There are 2 Primary schools in the area and numerous Community Groups. The Club take their Community responsibilities seriously and our Good Citizen scheme in partnership with North Wales Police goes from strength to strength. All junior members of the Club are automatically enrolled on the scheme when signing for the club, This sees them go out into the community and help with Projects and Schemes. Some of the members have so far taken part in Community Clean Ups, Litter Picking, Waiting Tables at an Elderly Residents Party, Hosting a Spot the Ball table at a Local Church Open Day to raise money.

Their next project is on Sunday 29th September which will see the group assist Keep Wales Tidy and local residents to clear an alleyway in Deganwy of overgrown shrubbery and weeds etc to enable local residents to use the alleyway once again.

The scheme has attracted a lot of media attention with stories published in the Mid Glamorgan Press, North Wales Weekly News, Daily Post and North Wales Pioneer.

The scheme even attracted BBC Radio when they broadcast live from a recent training session interviewing some of the players about their thoughts on the scheme. Older members of the club can access Careers Advice through the schemes partners, have help with job applications, C.V writing etc and also be advised about opportunities for further education or Apprenticeships on offer. It is planned for all members to receive First Aid and C.P.R training this season in addition to inputs from the Fire Service, Police and a visit to Danger-point, the interactive purpose built centre demonstrating every day dangers to young people.

The scheme are now looking for Community Groups who would like the help of the eager group of young footballers to help with Community Projects. When helping in the Community Members wear their official Club uniform which consists of Tracksuits and Jackets provided by the Police and Community Trust( P.A.C.T) and North Wales Fire Service Arson reduction Team.

Since the Launch of the Junior Good Citizen Scheme in November 2012, Llandudno Junction Neighbourhood Police report a decrease in overall crime in the area of 16.4% If you would like the help of the scheme or would like to enquire about your child joining the scheme, Please e-mail: Michael.Smith@nthwales.pnn.police.uk

No one at the Club gets paid including our players It is a constant job trying to seek sponsorship and funding to provide our players with Kit, Equipment etc not to mention all the other costs associated with running a football club.

We are lucky that we have some fantastic sponsors but the Club need the help of the local Community so we can keep pushing the Club forward and developing for the future of our local Children.

This week we feature our U8 Junction Jets team “Junction Jets” U8’s are a new addition to the club’s expanding junior section, initially formed by Jason Davies & Gareth Evans to compete in North Wales’ junior tournaments over the summer of 2013.Having enjoyed a successful summer often playing against teams a year above them the Jets became part of the Junction family and have so far played 9 pre-season friendlies, winning 7 and only losing one game. The boys like to play a passing game and are one of the hardest working teams at under 8 level.

They are all excited about the upcoming season and looking f orward to representing Junction for many years to come. With hard work and steady improvement maybe one day they will grace the 1st team at the Flyover and who knows how far some of them might go.” The boys have a brand new kit provided by sponsors “Atebion recruitment” and look the part ready for their first game of the new season this weekend.
