Safety Meetings and Initiatives

Over the past month, Elzinga & Volkers held safety meetings prior to our progress meetings. The following topics were reviewed: »» Construction death on 8/21

»» Hand tool safety

»» Construction fatal four: falls, electrocutions, being struck by an object and getting caught between two objects

»» Professional safety solutions site review

During the professional safety solutions site review, we found that some of our fire extinguishers were not properly tagged. There were an adequate number of fire extinguishers on-site but a number of them were missing their inspection tags. When we saw this offense come up more than once, E&V reached out to the trade contractors to educate them on this requirement. Since the meeting, we have not had a fire extinguisher on-site without an inspection tag. The MIOSHA and E&V partnership continues to be an educational opportunity for everyone.
