BUILDINGTOGETHER TRUE PROFESSIONALS! I’m sure you’ve noticed, on every logo of ours, whether on your hard hat, shirt, company vehicle, etc., that right after the words Elzinga & Volkers are the words: Construction Professionals. What do those words mean to you? For me, three things stand out: Looking Like a Professional When you first meet someone, you’re likely to look at their attire. Are they sloppy or do they have their clean, hole-free shirt tucked neatly into their pants? The outward image you’re projecting is noticed by others almost instantly. This is why we strive to look the part of a professional every day. We start the day with a clean pair of pants and work shirt to begin the shift on a good note. Acting Professional You know, the only reason an athlete is called a professional is that they are paid (sometimes too much) to play their respective sport? We have all known athletes who don’t look or act professionally. The image they portray gives their team and sport a bad name, right? Think of the baseball players like Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire, who cheated to achieve the records they established. Lance Armstrong went from national hero to national joke, almost overnight, as did Tiger Woods. They lost millions of dollars in sponsorships and opportunities because they lost the trust people had for a true professional.
Treating Others Respectfully, Professionally Ever hear of the saying, “Treat others how you’d like to be treated”? That goes for the work place as well. If you treat others like the professionals they are, you are acting like a professional. When we’re on a project site, we’re being watched by trades, owners and occupants. They see how we’re treating others and that is a direct impression of our professionalism. These three attributes are just a few of the things that paint an image of the professionalism of our company, which is one of the keys to our success. The image each one of us portrays sends a message to our clients, that E&V is special! E&V is different from the competition in a way that those we work for notice and appreciate. We want the professionalism they experience when working with E&V to be so much greater than anything else they have seen that they never look beyond us when hiring a contractor for their next project. I consider myself blessed to work with the many “true professionals” here at Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals. I hope you do as well! Work safe! Tony Roussey Chief Operating Officer

THE E&V STORE IS NOW OPEN! From August 1 - August 15 you’ll have an opportunity to purchase pre-selected, E&V logoed items. Just like any other online store, you can select the color, quantity and size of any item you would like to purchase, add them to your shopping cart and check out when you are done. There will be a prompt for you to pay with a credit/debit card. If all goes well and there is a fair amount of participation we will launch the next store on November 1st and feature more “winter gear” items. If you have suggestions for what you would like to see available in the store, please inform Jill Monte. All questions regarding this opportunity can go to Jill Monte, jillm@elzinga-volkers.com, ext. 435, or just stop by. BUILDINGTOGETHER | July 2018
