The final report of this NOAA-funded project to address sea level rise issues and increasing severe weather hazards in the historic, low-lying coastal community of St. Marys, GA, which has already experienced approximately nine inches of sea-level rise since 1897—a trend expected to accelerate in the future. This project paired local knowledge with academic expertise, as the City of St. Marys collaborating with Georgia Sea Grant, the University of Georgia, Stetson University and North Carolina Sea Grant to engage in flood resiliency planning which included analyzing risks to the City’s infrastructure and providing initial recommendations to manage flooding risks over the next 50 years.
