Welcome, my name is Julia Alejandra Rodriguez. I am a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder Program of Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture. As a designer, I am inspired by the positive impacts and change architecture can bring upon our environment. I am passionate about social justice within architecture, designing for the future of climate change, and using design as a service for good.

CU BOULDER SCHOOL OF DESIGN

The CU Boulder School of Design is an adaptive reuse project on the University of Colorado Boulder campus. This updated design school adds two enlarged levels containing design studios, lecture rooms, study spaces, lounge spaces, and outdoor balconies.

Loadbearing cross laminated timber is utilized as structural support on the upper three levels. These timber beams follow the existing structural grid system on the existing lower levels.

The Walter Orr Roberts Center is a Science Education and Workforce Training Center Facility for the National Center for Atmospheric Research
(NCAR) Mesa Lab. This new space incorporates classrooms, computer labs, conference rooms, dining space and an auditorium lecture hall for visiting college students and NCAR employees.

This structure is located in the Table Mesa neighborhood overlooking the beautiful city of Boulder, Colorado. This structure creates balance on the site by connecting the existing NCAR and Fleischmann building to create a united campus feel.

The Denver Living Apartments is a three story structure equipped with residential units, retail spaces, dine-in eateries, and co-working spaces. Expansive balconies allow for both indoor and outdoor use. Furthermore, rooftop access gives residents beautiful city views of the Denver area.

BOULDER RETREAT

The Boulder Retreat is a single story residence in North Boulder. This open layout gives the space peaceful circulation and easy wayfinding. In addition, an abundance of natural light warms the communal area and creates a cozy atmosphere for a family to enjoy a mountain getaway.

COLOR CORRIDOR

Color Corridor is a vibrant entryway that connects student neighborhoods off of Broadway Street to the University of Colorado Boulder on campus facilities. This way, students and visitors have a welcoming and safer option in alternative to crossing high traffic adjacent streets to arrive on campus. Furthermore, this walkway creates balance between the student housing and college campus, making the campus feel more interconnected.
