Introduction of Gaharu  Scientific name: Aquilaria malaccensis  Found typically in mixed forest habitat at altitudes between 0 and 1000 m above sea level  Gives off a unique aromatic scent when the wood is burnt  Gaharu oil grade-depending on resin content  Form gaharu as a response to wounding induced by external factors or microbial infection

Basis and Assumption of Mass Balance Material out = Material in + Generation – Consumption – Accumulation  Inlet of gaharu = 600kg/day.  Production of the plant = 1.26kg/day  Gaharu contain 0.006 % of β-agarofuran (C15H24O), 0.006 % of nor-ketoagarofuran (C15H24O), 0.047 % of agarospirol (C15H26O), 0.04 % of jinkoh-eremol (C15H26O), 0.029 % of kusunol (C15H26O), 0.024 % of dihydrokaranone (C10H16O), 0.058 % of oxo-agarospirol (C10H16O) and 99.79 % of cellulose (C6H10O5).
