I acquired the ability to independently manage a multitude of tasks at a young age, including the responsibility of caring for myself and others before being requested to do so. Whenever I encounter a challenge, I am consumed by the desire to be in control and do not cease until I have resolved it. A few of my interests include acting in plays, reading books, particularly crime novels, and learning languages. I am currently studying Swedish, which has been a rewarding challenge. Hopefully, I will have successfully finished my PhD and working as a dedicated Public Health researcher. I also aim to be able to travel the world as a curious researcher as well.

How would you like to grow and develop as a person?

I hope that shortly, mental health services can be more accessible and affordable, and young people like us will not have to suffer from our fears alone.

“As a heritage architect engaged in the Galle Fort Conservation Project in Sri Lanka,(2019-2022) I encountered a pressing issue: the neglect of a historic gunpowder magazine near the Clippenburg bastion. Despite its esteemed history dating back to the Dutch colonial era, this small structure had been repurposed into a public toilet, left abandoned due to inadequate ventilation and drainage.

Over four years, obtaining approval to preserve and restore this significant heritage site proved to be an uphill battle. Despite initial plans to refurbish the magazine as a toilet again, driven by societal pressures, I seized a pivotal moment during a meeting with key stakeholders. With fervor, I passionately advocated for its preservation, emphasizing its social, cultural, and historical significance. I meticulously explained the invaluable value of this place to our shared heritage and future generations.

My efforts bore fruit as government authorities, heritage foundations, and community leaders rallied behind the cause. Together, we reached a unanimous decision to safeguard the gunpowder magazine within the Clippenburg Bastion.

This victory was not just personally gratifying; it symbolized a collective triumph over years of bureaucratic hurdles. While it may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of personal achievements, for me, it represented the potential of one individual’s dedication to making a lasting impact. As a heritage architect, I’m inspired by this success to continue advocating for the preservation of our shared history, confident that every effort contributes to a brighter future for generations to come.”

What did the Axel Adler scholarship mean to you, and what impact did it have on your life?

The Axel Adler Scholarship is more than financial aid. It allows me to join a community of brilliant scholars and focus on my academic and professional aspirations.

What did you learn from your experience of living and studying in Sweden?

I look forward to gaining advanced knowledge and skills while immersing myself in Sweden’s diverse and rich culture. This would help me develop an international mindset.

Living in Sweden would allow me to enhance my personal growth, independence, and adaptability by thriving in a new setting. Born and raised in Hanoi, my family always backs me up, I depend on them a lot so I am confused about myself, about who I am, and what I could do for the community. Therefore, living in a first-world country such as Sweden would allow me to discover “me” and the world with all the best experiences.

How do you imagine yourself in ten years?

In ten years, I envision myself as a seasoned professional in my field, having made significant contributions through innovative projects and research that could change one’s mindset and action through communications. My career will likely involve collaborating with international partners, reflecting the global perspective I gained from my experiences in Sweden. Lastly, I want to be a role model who inspires others through my achievements and dedication to excellence and innovation.

What experiences would you like to have in life?

I dream of having a close-knit circle of friends and family with whom I share deep, meaningful connections. These relationships would be built on trust, mutual support, and shared experiences. I want to travel and document my time in a film series in historically and culturally rich destinations such as Japan, Italy, Greece, and Egypt to create “a virtual visit” while immersing myself in their heritage, art, and traditions. Regarding activities, hobbies, and sports, I would maintain a healthy lifestyle through regular activities like yoga, swimming, and cycling. I also wish to learn and participate in sports like tennis and scuba diving in the long run. Having a balance of meaningful relationships, fulfilling career achievements, diverse travel experiences, and engaging hobbies would make me happy and fulfilled. This holistic approach to life would allow me to grow continuously and enjoy every moment to its fullest.

How would you like to grow and develop as a person?

I want to develop skills, including communications, leadership, negotiation, and project management would also be valuable for my career. I aim to be fluent in several languages beyond my native tongue, including Swedish, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese. This would enable me to connect with a broader range of people and cultures. I admire empathy, resilience, integrity, and humility in others. I want to cultivate these qualities to become a better friend, family member, and leader. Being able to maintain a positive attitude and a growth mindset in the

face of challenges is important to me. When I deal with stress, I aim to handle these events based on my feelings at that moment. Sometimes, I would fill it with calmness and clarity through some techniques such as meditation, and deep breathing; sometimes, I would go out and catch up with my friend over a coffee, which is a remedy that reduces all the stress and anxiety (to my mind). In my old age, I want to feel content, fulfilled, and grateful for the life I have lived. I hope to continue engaging in activities I love, such as traveling, reading, and spending time with loved ones. Staying mentally and physically active will be crucial for my well-being.

How would you like to contribute to the world?

Regarding to my family, I want to be a source of emotional support and love for my loved ones, ensuring that they feel valued and cared for while providing financial stability and assistance to family members in need, helping with education costs, healthcare, or any other necessities.

To friend, I motivate and inspire my friends to achieve their goals and overcome challenges, being someone they can rely on during difficult times.

To society, I advocate for social justice issues, including equality, human rights, and environmental protection through effective communications. In legacy, I use communications to empower others to take action and make a difference in their communities, fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and proactive problemsolving.

By focusing on these areas, I hope to leave a lasting, positive impact on my family, friends, society, and the planet, contributing to a better, more equitable, and sustainable world for future generations.

What projects interest you for collaborating with Axel Adler alumni?

Promoting cultures is a project I am deeply interested in pursuing in the future. Collaborating with fellow Axel Adler scholars would significantly contribute to the success of this endeavor, leveraging our diverse perspectives and collective expertise.

“One interesting thing about me is my passion for transferring messages to impact an individual’s action in a very young age, which was the time I made a project against dog meat in my neighborhood.

To me, dogs are like true friends, understanding and loyal, even easier to connect with than humans. During my time in elementary school, Alex, my cherished canine companion, possessed a resplendent, gilded fur coat complemented by luminous, guileless eyes, and he unfailingly remained faithfully at my side. On days when rainfall graced the atmosphere, Alex would faithfully accompany me indoors, as he harbored trepidation towards the thunderous clamor and dazzling flashes of lightning. But Alex never came back after that. Strangely, a few months after Alex’s mysterious disappearance, a canine slaughterhouse emerged in my vicinity.

As a person who says no to the meat of animals such as dogs, cats and any wild game, from a very young age I have felt the impropriety of this behavior and this is the first time I speak out on that point.

However, the project ultimately failed. In a surprising turn of events, confidants came to me and revealed a newfound camaraderie with our animal pals, refusing to eat dog meat in defiance of the shock and persistent pressure coming from my family.

That very first experience has become an unexpected lifelong inspiration for me to pursue communications.”

Firstly, whether it’s writing stories, articles, or even journaling, I find great joy and satisfaction in putting my thoughts into words. The creative process of crafting narratives and expressing ideas can easily make hours feel like minutes. Secondly, spending time outdoors, especially basking walking in nature, is something I thoroughly enjoy. The combination of physical activity, fresh air, and beautiful scenery makes time pass quickly.

Last but not least, having deep, meaningful conversations with friends and family is something I cherish. The exchange of ideas and shared experiences can make time fly by unnoticed.

Optimism, adaptability and networking.

PASSION VALUES TALENT

First, relationship and connections because the joy and fulfillment derived from meaningful interactions and shared experiences far outweigh any material wealth.

Secondly, health. Without physical and mental well-being, it is challenging to pursue any goals or enjoy the benefits that money might bring. Health allows me to be active, productive, and engaged in all aspects of life.

Lastly, personal fulfillment and purpose. The intrinsic satisfaction and happiness derived from living a purposedriven life are far more important than money.
