GESTUZ We sat down for a quick chat with the founder and Creative Director of Scandinavian brand Gestuz, Sanne Sehested to discuss design inspirations, Kate Moss & the evolution of their effortlessly cool collections! Hi Sanne, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for us.
JB: We’re thrilled to be adding Gestuz to our roster
of designers for AW14. For our customers who may not be too familiar with the brand would you mind giving us a brief overview behind the ethos and history of Gestuz? spirit of the new generation of women and girls I spotted on the streets. I acted more on instinct than on research trusting my sensibility. With Gestuz I wanted the brand to have an edge and be able to sit with designer brands but it was important to me that the prices remained fair.

S: The initial idea behind Gestuz was to capture the

JB: Who are your biggest design inspirations? S: The primary source of inspiration is travelling.
The design team make regular trips to major cities like New York, Paris, London and Tokyo. The cities are not the limit for our inspiration, we can find inspiration everywhere - could be at a concert, art exhibition or looking at a cool blog.
JB: The AW14 collection has a heavy sportswear
JB: Your aesthetic plays a lot with silhouette to great success. What is it that appeals to you about playing with shape?
S: I love playing with shapes. Actually this is
what makes the collection new and different. Fabric and shapes are everything! It has to look effortless and comfortable but still with a fashionable edge.
JB: If you could select any woman (alive or not) to front a Gestuz campaign who would it be and why?
S: Kate Moss as she personifies what Gestuz
stands for - that laid back rock ‘n’ roll look she pulls off so effortlessly.
