POWERING A LEGACY: NEC’S TRUSTED ROLE AT TEXTRON SPECIALIZED VEHICLES
Textron Specialized Vehicles (TSV) manufactures a diverse range of vehicles, including E-Z-GO golf cars, Jacobsen professional mowers, and Textron Ground Support Equipment. Keeping operations running across its 50-acre facility is a huge task that requires precision, coordination, and detailed planning, which is something the Facilities Manager, Alan Gay, knows all about.
Alan and his team manage every aspect of infrastructure maintenance, facility expansion, and manufacturing optimization - it is a big job that demands dependable partners. That is why, for years, Alan has trusted Newsome Electrical Construction (NEC) to support the facilities electrical projects.
I saw firsthand the quality of NEC’s work and expertise, which instilled a great amount of trust in their capabilities.
From the beginning of his career at TSV, Alan worked alongside NEC to manage the electrical needs of the facility. “I saw firsthand the quality of NEC’s work and expertise, which instilled a great amount of trust in their capabilities,” explained Alan.

When TSV acquired a new campus in 2016 to expand its operations, the transformation was a major undertaking. The new facility, formerly a fabric care manufacturing plant, required extensive electrical work to transition into a vehicle manufacturing site and NEC played a pivotal role in making this happen.
“It’s not just NEC’s ability to help support new initiatives or maintain the existing facility, but their unmatched level of customer support,” said Alan. “In the early hours of Tuesday, March 20, 2018, a microburst impacted our campus. Within minutes, NEC was on site, collaborating with us to mitigate the damage and formulate a plan forward. Their priority was clear – getting us back to full operation as quickly and safely as possible.”

Alan recalled, “It was astonishing to witness how effectively they worked toward that goal, with their crew operating 24/7 to accelerate the schedule. Few companies would go to such lengths, and their responsiveness, commitment, and dedication to our success were truly remarkable.”
Severe weather disruptions in Georgia are rare, yet just six years later, TSV faced another major challenge when Hurricane Helene swept through the Southeast. More than a million people in Georgia were without power, and devastation reached every corner of the state including the TSV campus.
With power restoration expected to take more than two weeks and operations at a standstill, the TSV team began sourcing industrial generators large enough to support campus operations. “We secured five truck-mounted generators and immediately contacted NEC, who responded without hesitation, working with our team to wire and configure the units. Thanks to their expertise and rapid response, we were fully operational within just two days. NEC was instrumental in making this happen,” explained Alan.
It’s not just NEC’s ability to help support new initiatives or maintain the existing facility, but their unmatched level of customer support.
At NEC, customer-first service is not just a philosophy, it is a way of doing business. From routine projects to tackling urgent crises every project receives the highest level of professionalism, sense of urgency and commitment to quality.
“It’s simple, for us, NEC is always the first call,” said Alan.
