Institute for Contemporary Affairs, founded jointly with the Wechsler Family Foundation Vol. 14, No. 8 March 23, 2014 ▪ Palestinian leaders are manipulating the history of geographic Palestine/Land of Israel. They have manufactured a curious claim, expressed recently by Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, that they are descended from Canaanites and are therefore the indigenous people of the area, present before the emergence of the Jewish people around the year 1500 BCE. ▪ Saeb Erekat’s family is Bedouin.
