At Tuck, we ’ re a dedicated, passionate, and creative team of seven who foster innovation and collaboration with our brand partners and, above all, with you, our valued clients. Together, we create spaces that epitomize style, timelessness, and sheer beauty.
Like many others during the pandemic, our clients, John and Catherine, were drawn to the natural beauty and quiet charm of our region. They chose Rothesay and the greater Saint John area as the place to establish a second home that would offer a welcome getaway from their busy lives in Toronto.
They reached out to me cold, mid-pandemic, and like so many interactions during that time, our early conversations happened behind screens and masks Despite the distance and the layers, we built an immediate connection around our shared excitement for reimagining their historic home, one I had admired since I was a child.
The Cleasby House sat along my old paper route, a place I used to marvel at from the sidewalk, never dreaming I’d one day be decorating it for such thoughtful and creative clients.
This issue of our TUCK IN Magazine is a celebration of how heritage and modern living can beautifully coexist Whether you ' re transforming a country home or refreshing a small apartment, our hope is that these pages inspire you to create a space that feels like a getaway, wherever you are!
And when in doubt add a hydrangea.

Meet Catherine and John, the proud owners of their historic Rothesay home. The couple were eager to refresh their ‘Great Room’ parlour with a fresh, contemporary makeover. They wanted their new home design to honor the heritage of their home while adding modern comfort and style into their space.
A Gothic Revival Gem in Rothesay
The Cleasby’s Storied Architecture and Heritage Legacy
The Cleasby is a mid-19th-century, twostorey gem with clapboard siding, a steep gable roof and ornate gingerbread trim, the home is a hallmark of Gothic Revival. The Cleasby was built around 1855 by Saint John carpenter and businessman, John J. Munroe. Its historic architecture and links to notable local figures make the home a local historic gem
Nestled on the east side of Rothesay Road, overlooking Kennebecasis Bay, the couple describes the home to delight visitors with “charm around every corner, inside and out. ”
Inside the main floor’s Great Room, a parlour stretching the length of the house Two fireplaces set the mood for cozy weekend mornings and a small library nook invites you to curl up with your favourite book. Connected to the formal dining room, the Great Room transforms effortlessly from intimate family gatherings and spirited night with friends
John and Catherine's home features a spacious, elongated room serving as a multi-purpose entertainment area and a living room.
The living room is nearly forty feet long, created by removing a wall between two original rooms, and features numerous windows that flood the space with natural light.
We decided to keep the lights and curtains as they complement the space beautifully.
TUCK TIP!
Preserve the history of your space by choosing decor that complements, rather than overshadowing, your original items.
There are two wood burning fireplaces that anchor each side of the room
The bookshelf and ladder adds to the home’s character.
The previous owner left many books, which John and Catherine decided to keep
“ ”
Though the parlour’s sheer size was challenging, Judith suggested colours and furniture so that the room doubled as a grand entertaining space or two intimate areas.

Symmetry in furnishing and decorating a long space creates balance and harmony, making the room feel organized and visually appealing.
By mirroring elements on either side, it helps distribute visual weight evenly, preventing one end of the space from feeling heavier or more cluttered than the other.
This approach also enhances the flow of the room, guiding the eye smoothly through the entire area.
