Career Day 2022

Judge Memorial was excited to host Career Day 2022 with some accomplished alumni who shared stories of their careers with our students. For this year’s Career Day, we welcomed alumni both in-person and virtually with an event structured more like a “speaker series.” Each alumnus shared their profession, their personal journey of accomplishments and lessons learned followed by questions and answers.

Career Day is a great way for students to learn about different careers and also develop connections with our alumni. The following alumni were our guest speakers for this year’s Career Day:

Marty Jemison ‘88

Marty Jemison was a professional cyclist from 1994 to 2000. He started his professional career with the Dutch-based WordPerfect team in 1994. Marty was selected by U.S. National Team at the UCI World Road Race Championships in 1994 and 1997. He was the U.S. National Road Race Champion in 1999.

As a member of the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, Marty participated in two Tours de France and was a teammate of Lance Armstrong. His most successful day in the Tour de France was when he earned a top 5 placing during stage 13 of the 1998 Tour. He got into successful breakaway that stayed away all day and finished nearly three minutes ahead of the Peloton Team.

Since retiring from professional cycling, Marty lives in Park City and leads luxury cycling tours throughout Europe for his company Jemison Cycling Tours.

Trisha Randazzo ‘07

Trisha Randazzo is a Lead Mission Integration and Test Engineer for NASA’s Integrated LCRD Low-Earth Orbit User Modem and Amplifier Terminal (LLUMA-T). She received a B.S. Degree in Mathematics and Physics at College of Idaho, and a Master’s of Science in Space Studies from the International Space University. Trisha is currently working on a Master of Engineering in Space Systems Engineering from JohnsHopkins Whiting School of Engineering.

Trisha is most excited by the cutting edge technology they are testing every day. Optical, or laser, communications means future missions, like the Artemis mission, which will be able to communicate over laser links instead of radio frequency links. This upgrade in communication technology is similar to upgrading from dial-up to fiber optic internet – more data per second means more science per second!

Trisha presented to the students via Zoom from her home in Maryland.
