We Are Resilient
SCHOOL NEWS We Are Resilient
For our first ever live streamed Gala program, the 2020-2021 student body officers were asked to write a script for a video that included every student currently at Judge. Below is the compelling message that they wanted to share with the Judge community. The powerful video can be accessed using this QR code, or on the Judge website at judgememorial.com/apps/pages/WeAreResilient.
We are adaptive. We are creative. We are tenacious. We are resilient. We are Judge Memorial.
Tonight, no matter how far we may be from each other, we stand together as the Judge family. Our distance apart does not hinder our solidarity and love for one another. Judge is our home, no matter the circumstances. The Judge community always has been and will always be here for its students and faculty - past, present, and future. It is because of this unity that we have been able to stand together and navigate the many obstacles of this year. Our resilience and adaptability take root in the 100 year foundation that we have all been lucky enough to be a part of. Without you and your contributions to Judge, we would not be where we are today.
We would be lying if we said this year wasn’t a struggle. What started as an extended spring break turned into several months of lockdown. Every aspect of normalcy was ripped out from under us. It took some time for us to get back on our feet. We struggled to stay positive, motivated, and connected throughout quarantine. Things were hard. It was lonely. It was like nothing we had ever had to experience. But we have continued to grow and thrive at Judge. We have found a new normal. We have fostered unity in times of extreme division. We have adapted to new expectations and guidelines. We have found creative ways to safely participate together in the activities that we love. And, unlike other schools, we have been able to avoid closing our doors.
We would not have been so successful without YOU. Thanks to our outstanding teachers, our heroes, who have also had to adapt to these new circumstances, we have continued to grow in scholarship and create communities and routines in this unprecedented time. Thanks to our fabulous counseling team, we have had the support and guidance we’ve needed to cope with our struggles and the difficulties of this year. Thanks to our dedicated administration, we have been able to keep our doors open by maintaining an organized and safe learning environment where the health of our students, teachers, and staff has been the number one priority. Thanks to the love and support of our parents, we have been able to learn at home and persevere when things are difficult. Thanks to our magnificent custodial staff, we have been able to stay safe and healthy; they have helped keep our school stay open so that we can continue to experience all the joys that Judge has to offer. And thanks to you, we have a supportive community that stands resilient, no matter what comes our way.
Tonight we celebrate one hundred years of Judge Memorial, made possible by our faculty and staff, alumni, parents, volunteers, donors, and community over the last centennial. This is not the way we envisioned our one hundredth year, but this year has perfectly showcased the adaptability and perseverance that Judge Memorial emulates. We, as individuals and as the Judge family, are all stronger because of the challenges we have faced. If we were able to make it through this year, we can make it through anything together. We are looking forward to the next 100 years that would not be possible without you and your generosity, so please raise your paddles tonight for tuition assistance. Together, WE are resilient.
