I adore the holy will of God in my regard

In 1670, he began his years in the seminary. When he was still a seminarian, he taught catechism and developed a strong concern for the most families who couldn't afford to pay for their children's education (secular or religious). De La Salle returned from Paris to Rheims in 1672 to care for his siblings after the death of his parents.

WHO IS LASALLE?

On April 30, 1651, La Salle was born in Reims, France, to a prosperous family. He was Louis de La Salle and Nicolle Moet de Brouillet's oldest child. John Baptiste de La Salle was tonsured at the age of eleven and named canon of the Reims Cathedral at the age of sixteen.

He believed that the common language, French, should be taught at schools designed for the working class (who did not speak Latin). De La Salle gave the establishment of Teacher Training Schools a lot of importance because there weren't enough instructors in his time The Brothers now focus a lot of emphasis on teacher training programs or schools De La Salle was one of the first teachers in history to construct schools for juvenile offenders found guilty in civil courts.

"I admire the holy will of God in my regard," were his last words to the Brothers, summarizing the life of faith he had lived, believing and trusting in God's care as he went about his work of passionately teaching underprivileged children. When De La Salle was declared a saint on May 24, 1900, the Catholic church acknowledged De La Salle's profound sanctity. On May 15, 1950, the Church officially named St. La Salle as its patron saint of all teachers since it saw him as a pioneer in the field of education

CORE VALUES

The Foundational Principles of Lasallian Formation, the Principles of Lasallian Education in the Philippines, and the Principles of Lasallian Social Development are three documents that were produced as a result of a continuous effort to define and clarify the nature of the Lasallian presence and mission in the nation at this time. They are a direct result of the resolutions adopted at the First Lasallian Family Convocation in 2003, which urged the Philippine District's citizens and institutions to deepen their Lasallian charism and sense of Lasallian identity. These three values the spirit of faith, the zeal for service, and the communion in mission are the foundations of the Lasallian identity, and each of these statements builds on them.
