-PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL WORK - ARCH CLUB
THIS PROJECT ENVISIONED AN ARTIST COLONY RETREAT FOR A PAINTER, A SCULPTOR, AND A WRITER—THREE FRIENDS SEEKING MUTUAL INSPIRATION. THE DESIGN EMPLOYS THE FIGURE-GROUND TECHNIQUE, WITH HEXAGONS AND SQUARES INTERSECTING DYNAMICALLY TO FORM A UNIQUE PATTERN. THIS GEOMETRY AIMS TO REFLECT THE DISTINCT PERSONALITIES OF EACH ARTIST WITHIN THEIR INDIVIDUAL WORKSPACES WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY FOSTERING A CONNECTION TO A SHARED CENTRAL SPACE, ENCOURAGING CREATIVE EXCHANGE AMONG THEM.

THE PROJECT BEGAN WITH A 9X9 GRID WITHIN A 36X36 SQUARE, INTRODUCING DELIBERATE ANOMALIES TO MODIFY THE GRID AND ESTABLISH THE BUILDING’S FOUNDATIONAL SYSTEM. FROM THIS SYSTEM, WALLS, COLUMNS, AND BEAMS WERE CONSTRUCTED TO SHAPE A SPATIAL COMPOSITION THAT GUIDES CIRCULATION INTENTIONALLY. STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS WERE EMPLOYED TO DIRECT MOVEMENT, WITH EACH FLOOR SHAPING THE JOURNEY IN DISTINCT WAYS: ONE FLOOR ENCOURAGES TRAVEL ALONG THE X-AXIS, ANOTHER ALONG THE Y-AXIS, AND THE FINAL LEVEL OPENS INTO A FREER, MORE EXPANSIVE LAYOUT.

THIS PROJECT BEGAN WITH CREATING A CUSTOM GRID TO ESTABLISH A SYSTEMATIC FOUNDATION FOR THE DESIGN OF A VISITOR CENTER, ALLOWING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COHESIVE MASSING. INSPIRED BY THE FARNSWORTH HOUSE, CRITICAL ELEMENTS FROM MIES VAN DER ROHE’S DESIGN PRINCIPLES WERE INTEGRATED, SHAPING A STRUCTURE THAT ENHANCES THE VISITOR’S EXPERIENCE OF MIES’ ARCHITECTURAL LEGACY. THE MASSING WAS THOUGHTFULLY DIVIDED TO DIFFERENTIATE SPACES, WITH DISTINCT AREAS DESIGNATED FOR WORKERS AND THE PRIMARY AUDIENCE—VISITORS— CREATING A HARMONIOUS BALANCE BETWEEN FUNCTION AND REVERENCE FOR THE ICONIC DESIGN.
HILL OF SITE MASSING
AROUND THE HILL
THIS PROJECT AIMED TO EMBODY THE PRINCIPLES OF FUTURISM, CHANNELING CONCEPTS OF MOTION AND SPEED THROUGH DESIGN. IT BEGAN WITH A SINGLE TRIANGLE SHAPE CHOSEN FOR ITS SHARP CORNERS AND STRETCHABLE FORM, QUALITIES THAT RESONATE WITH THE ESSENCE OF SPEED. A DYNAMIC SENSE OF MOVEMENT EMERGED BY REPEATEDLY SKETCHING AND STACKING THESE TRIANGLES, EACH SLIGHTLY BENT AND LAYERED. THIS APPROACH LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR A BUS STOP DESIGN THAT CAPTURES THE ENERGY AND FORWARD MOTION CENTRAL TO FUTURIST IDEALS.
FLOOR PLAN
FOR THE AVIATION MUSEUM PROJECT, FIVE FIGHTER JETS WERE CHOSEN TO ILLUSTRATE THE HISTORICAL EVOLUTION OF AVIATION TECHNOLOGY, ALIGNING WITH A FUTURIST THEME. THE DESIGN CONCEPT CENTERED ON TRANSLATING WORDS THAT CHARACTERIZE THESE JETS— LETHAL, DOMINANCE, AND POWER— INTO ARCHITECTURAL FORMS. THESE WORDS BECAME THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THE CREATIVE PROCESS, SHAPING A SPACE THAT VISUALLY EMBODIES THESE AIRCRAFT’S FORMIDABLE NATURE AND TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS, OFFERING VISITORS AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE LEGACY AND IMPACT OF AVIATION INNOVATION.

THIS PROJECT ENVISIONS A SUPERSTRUCTURE FOR APARTMENT HOUSING IN LAKE WORTH, DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM JAPANESE METABOLISM. THE DESIGN CONCEPT TAKES CUES FROM THE ORGANIC GROWTH OF A TREE—ADAPTING AND EVOLVING TO MEET THE SHIFTING NEEDS OF NATURE AND PEOPLE OVER TIME. THE STRUCTURE EMBRACES ADAPTABILITY, FOSTERING COMMUNITY BY UTILIZING INTERSTITIAL SPACES TO FORM COMMUNAL AREAS. THIS APPROACH TRANSFORMS THE BUILDING INTO A LIVING FRAMEWORK, HARMONIZING INDIVIDUAL LIVING SPACES WITH SHARED ENVIRONMENTS THAT EVOLVE WITH THE COMMUNITY.
