orn in Sweden in 1912, Rolf Blomberg became a naturalist, explorer, writer, photographer and filmmaker. His literary production includes 20 books, over 30,000 photographs, 36 documentary films and several audio recordings. Blomberg’s work mainly covers Latin America, Africa, Turkey and Indonesia, where he stayed as a neutral correspondent during World War II. As a naturalist he discovered several species, including the biggest toad in the world: Bufo blombergi. But Blomberg’s main interest in nature drifted more and more towards the commitment with exposed and persecuted human groups, inspiring the creation of groups such as Cultural Survival (London) and Iwgia (Norway).
