For this project we were tasked with designing a makerspace at 27th and Prospect in Kansas City, MO. The main function of the buliding was to serve as a place where people within the community could come and learn about metal and wood working so they could go out and find jobs.

For this project we were tasked with designing a bike shop on the corner of 11th and Mass Street in Lawrence, KS. The corner contains a parking lot that is not heavily used and our goal was to create a building to help the transition to the commercial part of Mass Street.

Reimagined Space

This was my first “big” project in studio. We were tasked with developing a “wall system” based off of piece of a model we had already made from a previous project. Then we partnered up and chose a building on campus we thought had some issues. We then used our wall systems to improve the building.

My partner and I chose the Lied Center as our building.

We wanted to change the filtration of light into the lobby area. We also found there to be a flow problem in the lobby because there is not a defined space for people to socialize before a show, so they all gather towards the doors congesting the entrance into the auditorium.

We decided to apply my partner’s wall system to the outside facade of the Lied Center because his wall system was able to filter light really well.

We used mine in the lobby to help with the flow and congestion problem

I always thought I was not good at drawing, but after I took a couple art and drawing classes in high school I discovered I am much better than I thought I was. This carried over into college and I have been trying to incorporate more drawing into my projects because it helps me develop my ideas. Most of theses drawings are from my first studio and high school.
