IAMS donates 100 tonnes of food to rescue dogs & cats

W

ith 9 million dogs and 8 million cats kept as pets in the UK1 we truly are a nation of animal lovers, and thankfully more and more of us are choosing to adopt. This is wonderful news for the many dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes, but for every pet adopted, there are more waiting for their own loving family. This is why IAMS is proud to support pet rescue centres and charities across the UK through our I AM HOME feeding programme.

In 2018, we helped to feed thousands of hungry and homeless dogs and cats donating almost 100 tonnes of food to animal rescue centres across the UK, from Cornwall right up to Inverness! We have built trusted relationships with more than 30 animal charities, providing support and care by donating IAMS’ premium nutrition to animals in need, ensuring they benefit from a 100% complete and balanced diet while they wait to be united with a loving family. 2. SUPPORT – This year our friendly IAMS team will take part in volunteer days, helping to relieve the tiring work load that the rescue centre staff face every day.

The I AM HOME feeding programme supports UK pet rescue charities in three ways: 1. DONATE – Not only do we donate food to selected I AM HOME registered charities we also provide FREE I AM HOME Welcome Home Packs for staff to gift with every adopted pet.

Meet Miracle, the rescue dog who saved a family

Our growing I AM HOME community on the IAMS UK Facebook page enables pet parents to share their own personal and heart-warming stories of pet adoption, plus our partner charities share stories of cats and dogs waiting to find their forever home. Further real life and inspiring pet adoption stories can be found at www.iams.co.uk/iamhome, including the incredible story of Miracle, our I AM HOME Ambassadog.

I AM HOME Ambassadog Miracle truly represents how adopting a pet today can change a life forever. Life for Miracle started with a rough beginning. Indeed, it’s a miracle he survived. As with so many rescues, Miracle shows his thanks for a second chance at life in a very special way – through his love and devotion for Amanda’s son Kyle who lives with Cerebral Palsy and autism. The pair communicate through an unspoken language, but one they both understand. Pet parent Amanda says, “the two are like kindred spirits.”

3. CARE – We raise awareness of rescue centres by sharing rehoming success stories on our IAMS’ website and social media. We do this because we hope to inspire more people to adopt.

Miracle was the inspiration behind I AM HOME and soon became IAMS’ Ambassadog because his story gives hope to all of the homeless animals waiting to finally say ‘I AM HOME’.
