Title: Goddess (2014) Artist: Banks Release Date: 09.09.2014 Genre: Pop

The much anticipated debut album Goddess, by American recording artist Banks has finally arrived. Included are two tracks from her debut EP titled Fall Over and her second EP titled London. Banks smooth and sultry voice glides over electronic driven beats with definitive conviction. Banks is full-on Pop but with a dark R&B feel that entices with emotionally charged lyrics and hypnotic melodies. Goddess is undoubtedly, “ahead of the curve.” On the track “Brains”, released as the first single, Banks uses her lower registry with sex appeal and tantalizingly toys with melancholy until reaching the climax, which she execute using her higher registry. On the title track “Goddess”, Banks delivers laidback vocals syncopated with a single bass line. The tracks “Drowning” and “Beggin For Thread”, incorporates distinct and melodic, hip-hop beats. In contrast, the track “Someone New”, released as the fifth single, employs the simplicity of acoustic. Goddess is entirely dedicated to relationships and explicitly about their dissolution. Although most of the songs on Goddess present some similarities in rhythm and melodies, I’m rating it 4 out of 5 stars. Goddess is sure to catapult Banks into another dimension and Intrinsically transform the definition of Pop music.
