Hospital Week 2023: Honoring Healthcare Heroes and Healing Hands

Hospital week is an annual celebration that takes place in May to recognize the hard work and dedication of healthcare professionals across the country JPS Health Network hosted its own weeklong celebration last week to honor our employees and the exceptional care they provide to the community Last week, JPS took the opportunity to recognize the dedication and hard work of our employees by hosting a series of events and activities The weeklong celebration includes a variety of events, from employee appreciation events to fun health and wellness activities These daily events provided an opportunity for the hospital administration to express their gratitude to the staff for their hard work and dedication Each day included food, games, and activities for the employees to enjoy including: Not another Manic Monday, Take a picture Tuesday, Where is it Wednesday - a Virtual Scavenger Hunt, Thankful Thursday"SpreadingGratitude, andFoodTruckFriday.
While Hospital Week focuses on honoring healthcare professionals, it also emphasizes the importance of self-care and work-life balance Healthcare workers often face demanding schedules and high-stress situations During this week, JPS organized activities and events that promote employee well-being, such as team-building exercises and de-stress activities, to help foster a supportive work environment It is a time to recognize the unwavering commitment, compassion, and resilience of healthcare workers who selflessly serve their communities
Hospital Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the multifaceted contributions made by healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators, support staff, and volunteers These individuals form a dedicated team, working together to ensure the well-being and recovery of patients, often under challenging circumstances From maintenance workers to food service personnel, administrative staff to housekeeping, each member of the healthcare team plays a vital role in creating a safe and comfortable environment for patients Hospital Week acknowledges the dedication and hard work of these unsung heroes

Fostering Excellence for Patient Experience
In our pursuit of providing exceptional care and ensuring an outstanding patient experience, Southeast Medical Home and Northeast PHP have emerged as shining examples, achieving the highest patient experience scores this month These areas have demonstrated a commitment to delivering personalized care, fostering strong patient-provider relationships, and prioritizing patient satisfaction
However, despite our team's successes, we are not currently meeting our patient experience (PX) goal for outpatient behavioral health care To elevate our patient experience and meet our PX goal, it is imperative that every individual associated with our organization plays a vital role From the moment a patient walks through the door to the time they leave, every interaction matters We must prioritize empathy, attentiveness, and open communication to ensure patients feel valued, respected, and heard
One crucial aspect of patient experience surveys is the key driver question that assesses the overall rating of care Our goal should be to shift the response from "Good" to "Very Good" for the patients who indicated a "Good" rating This small but significant change can result in a notable increase in our overall scores Emphasizing the importance of this key driver question will help us focus on the specific areas where improvements are needed It is essential to recognize our PX goal can only be achieved if patients score us as "Very Good" in the overall rating of care Anything less than "Very Good" is considered a failing survey. This realization highlights the need for continuous improvement and underlines the significance of consistently delivering exceptional care to each patient
By recognizing the significance of each individual's contribution, emphasizing the importance of patient feedback, and striving for "Very Good" ratings in our overall rating of care, we can make significant strides towards enhancing the patient experience Together, we can create a culture of excellence that prioritizes exceptional care, fosters positive patient-provider relationships, and solidifies our reputation as a trusted healthcare organization dedicated to delivering exceptional patient experiences
