History of QC-CBD
Masterminds of the masterplan The QC-CBD is a giant project amounting to P65 billion. Skyscrapers and other buildings are planned to be built in this project in the coming 10 to 15 years. 72% of the property is in control of the Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) while the remaining 28% is in the National Housing Authority, which owns much of the land occupied by the project. Aside from the Ayala Land Incorporation, there are a number of corporations taking part in the project including Eton Properties Philippines, the one behind the well-known ‘Eton Centris’ and the owner of Cyberpod Centris, Centris Station, and Centris Walk. There is also the Grass Residences condominium owned by SMDC. Bloombery Resorts Corp., which owns and runs the Solaire Resort and Casino, is also expected to have a project which will be constructed in 2022. The project is also supported by an international financial institution— the World Bank. The following are individuals with notable contributions in the progress of the QC-CBD project: 1. Former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who signed E.O. No. 620, which aims to speed up the development of the lands in East and North Triangles, and 2. Former Mayor Herbert Bautista, who forcibly evicted residents of North Triangle, Quezon City. The forced closure of Manila Seedling Bank Foundation in 2012, which caused the eviction of many gardener-tenants happened during his term together with; 3. Victor Endriga, former City Admin Senior Advisor to the Mayor, who was tasked by Mayor Bautista to head the development of the MSBF property, 4. Antonio Aquino, the president of the Ayala Land Incorporation, who is in a joint venture agreement with the National Housing Authority and the local government for the QC-CBD project, 5.
