In this era of dynamic technology growth, AI has intruded as a powerful catalyst for change by simultaneously transforming the different aspects of people's lives, namely the academic environment. Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) Sportsfest 2024 kicked off with enthusiasm as the opening ceremony commenced symbolizing an eventful welcoming of each Christian school present in the ceremony. The event occurred at the Philippine Women's College campus on March 04, 2024, with 15 Christian schools under the theme, "Encounter and Accompaniment in Culture and Sports.”
As the event began, SJP-Saints gave the first impression of athleticism and passion when Dance Sports representatives secured a tight win and were hailed as the first runnerup. This impression keeps on with another achievement; SJP-Saints basketball women have landed as first runner-up in both 3-on-3 and 5on-5 categories, SJP-Saints spike for third place, Sepak Takraw kicks off the bronze medal, men's chess team securing a commendable seventh-place, women's chess team securing the
fourth spot, and SJPIICD slayed the Danza en Cuatro as they were hailed as champions since their performance was particularly outstanding. In contrast, the basketball men's 3 category successfully snags the gold medal. The School's Sports Coordinator, Coach Howard Delgado, guided and instructed these achievements, and the school's sports department has achieved yet another noteworthy.
Beyond the success, these achievements resonate with the fundamental values of teamwork, dedication, and an unrelenting pursuit of success. The SJPIICD athlete's triumph secures a prestigious title and crafts a narrative of fortitude and excellence within St. John Paul II College of Davao, forever echoing in the hallowed corridors for years to come.
On March 7, 2024, the SJP-Saints basketball men's 3-on-3 category successfully snagged the gold medal. Audy Cayasas, Froilan Palcis, Jhon Albert Torrejos, and Marc John Lloren consistently showed impressive performances throughout the DACS Sportfest 2024, guided by their invincible maneuvers and unwavering unity, which propelled them to championship status.
St. John Paul II College of Davao men's basketball 3-on-3 category has always been consistent in exhibiting their skills and versatility inside the court; last year, this category managed to achieve first place, but this year, they successfully bagged the gold medal.
Each player's resilience and effort, amplified by the outstanding performance of Casayas, Palcis, Torrejos, and Lloren with the directions of their coach, Howard Delgado, turned the tide, transforming adversity into a victory. Nevertheless, this significant victory highlighted the team's exceptional teamwork and individual skills, with standout performances from key players.
The recent wins of the SJP-Saints Basketball team demonstrate their skill as athletes and stress the value of collaboration and intelligent play in winning on the court. As they revel in their successes, the team raises the bar for excellence in collegiate basketball, with excitable fans eager to watch what they do next on the court.
In the spotlight of the competition, the SJP-Saints stood out with their innovative choreography and impeccable execution, leaving a lasting impression on both judges and spectators alike. Their performance in Danza en Cuatro was particularly outstanding, as they infused their routines with creativity and precision, ultimately earning them the top spot on the podium.

Taylor Swift may not be the only tortured poet in her family. The pop superstar, whose fourth studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," was released on April 19 and features 11 tracks, is a distant relative of Emily Dickinson. The genealogy company Ancestry established this quaint tie; they shared this fact with TODAY on March 4, telling it that Swift and Dickinson were actually their distant kin: sixth cousins, third times removed.
Swift's maternal and paternal grandparents originated in England, and early Quaker settlers were in Massachusetts and Connecticut. At the same time, Dickinson's parents were related to Johnathan Dickinson, an English Quaker who emigrated to America in the 17th century, settling in Windsor, Connecticut. Indeed, the common ancestor, this ninth greatgrandfather of Swift and the sixth great-grandfather of Dickinson, connect these great writers throughout generations.
According to Jonathan Swift's genealogy, his forefathers continued living in Connecticut for as long as six generations before moving into the area of northwestern Pennsylvania, where they intermarried with the Swift family members.
Notably, Swift mentions Dickinson in public when speaking of the process she uses to create her songs. Since the release of Swift's ninth album titled "Evermore," fans have conjectured that the album title was a homage to the 19th-century poet. Swift teased the album on her Instagram, unveiling its title and date on December 10, Dickinson's birthday.
First of all, both songs discuss themes of love and breaking up: the songs by Taylor Swift are called "Forevermore," while Emily Dickinson's poem called "One Sister Have I in Our House" uses the word "forevermore." The realization that Swift was recently found to be related to Dickinson could be viewed as another way the common folk could look at the intensity and the prose in pop.
Further lingering onto this musical line emphatically underlines that the impact of poetry remains untouched by the fatal years and confined restrictions of a sole form of media. This paper also explores Swift's various experiences in artistry, a shift towards a new figure in Dickinson, and her eternal contribution to American literature.
Like many other exciting narratives that gained popularity lately – about Tom Hanks and Mister Rogers or Taylor Swift and Emily Dickinson – the reciprocity of kinship relations once again speaks about the interconnectedness of people from one generation and the fields they practiced in. This knowledge of the two writers gives a different outlook on Swift and Dickinson's work and the possible impacts they can bring upon literature and music.

Bini, the rising Filipina girl group that never fails to deliver hit songs, is at it again with the aptly titled "Pantropiko." Heavily influenced by the summer tropics, Pantropiko is a blend of stunning tousled pop that brings to life the rhythmic tune and memorable lyrics, creating an island summer paradise.
The first lines “Ikaw ay nasilayan, sa di inakalang panahon / Lumapit ng biglaan, para bang di nagkataon,” by BINI paints the picture of fate that brought the two characters together from the start. The lyrics portray the aspect of finding a new love partner, the excitement of a partner as depicted by the singers, and the feelings of wonder and joy in the lyrics. The appearance of destiny and the guidance of stars in the given narrative is a lovely and majestic addition that fits the game's environment.
Generally, the chorus can make you want to hum and sing the song, while lines such as "Feels like summer when I'm with you/Parang islang pantropiko"
depict young lovers who feel so energetic. The word "Sa islang pantropiko" emphasizes what is portrayed in the song and brings the listeners into the island setting where they are absorbing heat from the sun and the new-found love interest.
Lyrically speaking, "Pantropiko" is pure tropical pop music with all the twists and turns characteristic of today's pop aesthetics. Regarding
the instrumental part, memorable and vivid percussion and gentle melodic steel drums create a pirouette and structured tempo that enhances the song and correlates with the summertime theme. It is unexpectedly colorful and professional, and there is no doubt that the vocals of this incredible duo are highlighted in this production, along with the clear enunciation of the lyrics to the songs.
A little highlight of the song is when the group sings, "On this tropical island I am sitting on the white sand / Guess, I found my love with you / Cause with you boy, I'm going crazy / You could be my baby, I could be your lady." This takes the ideas introduced before and adds a personal level: the singers' passion and infatuation with their love interest.
Of particular note, the lyrics of the chorus come alive due to the picturesque depiction of the white sand and the romantic and personal setting.
In conclusion, the song "Pantropiko" by BINI is a refreshing and upbeat track that speaks of loving someone in the warmer season. Samba is a tropical love song with a powerful lyrical message and energetic performance that sets it apart from most standardissue pop tunes. The summer is already warm, and with music like that from this album, whether you are partying in the sand or doing the disco sway in your living room, "Pantropiko" is the perfect accompaniment.
