What is Leadership Lake Houston? ___________________________________ Leadership Lake Houston is a program of the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce which identifies and develops future leaders for our community. The intent of the program is to develop new community leaders and enhance the skills and community awareness of existing community leaders by exposing participants to the challenges and opportunities in various segments of our community. The goal of this process is to assemble a network of community leaders who can enhance their problem solving and other leadership abilities through shared perspectives and working together. What’s in it for my company? ___________________________________ Your company will benefit from a development program that helps expand your scope and reach by increasing your community exposure and awareness and creating and identifying opportunities to market your company. The Leadership Lake Houston Program will develop your participating employees and provide them a well-rounded overview of the Lake Houston Area market.

Application & Selection Process ___________________________________

Anyone engaged in a career, or other endeavors, having an interest in community development and growth is invited to apply. At a minimum, the successful candidate will have expressed a desire to contribute both time and energy toward serving the community, demonstrated prior volunteer involvement and demonstrated professional growth. Class size is limited. Deadline to apply is June 3. A non-refundable $25 application fee must be turned in with the application.(Application fee is waived for Chamber members who are at or above the Gold Distinguished Investor level). Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by June 24.

Tuition ___________________________________

Program tuition is $795. Tuition must be paid in full by August 13. Tuition is payable by the individual, the employer or the sponsoring organization and is non-refundable.Tuition covers all progam materials, meals, snacks, Opening Retreat and Graduation.

Our Commitment ___________________________________

Our commitment is to provide participants with experiences, knowledge and skills to better assume leadership roles within the community. The program will strengthen confidence, motivation, creativity and relationships. It will open the door to leadership opportunities and provide a better understanding of the challenges facing our community. This program will help participants identify the areas that interest them in investing their time and talent.

Expectation of Participants ___________________________________

Program Schedule

Regular session dates will be held from 8:30 am 3:30 pm. Any deviations will be disclosed to the class well in advance. The Opening Reception and Graduation will be held in the evening.

Opening Reception: Aug. 27, 2013 Opening Retreat: September 19 & 20, 2013 Two-day, overnight leadership retreat at Camp Allen near Navasota. This retreat explores leadership and includes team-building exercises.

Social Services: October 8, 2013

Discover various social service organizations and how they make an impact in our area.

Quality of Life & History: November 12, 2013

Discover the our area’s history and experience the Quality of Life the Lake Houston Area offers.

Government: December 10, 2013

Interact with local government leaders and learn about the entities that govern our area.

Healthcare: January 14, 2014

Candidates should have demonstrated an interest in volunteer leadLearn about the area’s ership as well as a desire to increase their involvement in community achealthcare amenities and tivities. Participation in all scheduled activities is required to graduate the challenges facing our from the program. Participants are allowed to miss only eight (8) hours healthcare community. total of regular sessions during the Leadership Lake Houston year. Any tardy or partial days will be included in this eight (8) hour total. Education: February 11, 2014 Attending the entire Opening Retreat is mandatory. Upon graduation, Learn about our public & private education systems and the challenges they’re currently facing. participants will be expected to become involved in the community in some type of leadership capacity.
