I am a fourth-year undergraduate student in the design stream of architecture at Carleton University. My interest in architecture stems from my desire to learn about the use and practicalities of sustainable materials and systems in the construction and design of buildings. I hope to continue to expand my knowledge on the relationship between spaces and people and to better understand ways to create architecture that supports the wellbeing of those who experience it.

The Riverbed Plaza project is a design situated in Española, New Mexico. There are several factors that make the site a unique location to work with: the Rio Grande lies to the East with a planned design of a kayak apron to connect to the site itself while on the west side of the site lies a heritage theater facade that acts as both a landmark and focal point for the overall design scheme. The topography of the site shifts gradually to reach a depression of 1.5m near the back of the site, meaning several landscaping elements are necessary for the functioning of the many activities on site.

The Circular Gardens project is a community garden design that is located in an area of high tension, between the buildings of 251-255 Donald St. in Ottawa, Canada. It was developed over several phases of site analyses, one-on-one interviews with tenants as well as community discussions with the Ottawa Community Housing organization. The aim of the project was to determine a program that would be well suited towards the current community’s needs and to expand upon those design intentions to better support the tenants’ daily lives.
The design of the gardens intend to assist the community’s desires for additional gardening spaces while also taking into account factors such as sunlight, natural shade, mobility issues and pre-existing areas of hostility that have been expressed by the tenants. The pod-like design of the garden spaces are created in hopes of creating potential moments of conversation and relationship building. The planters themselves are elevated from the ground to allow for easy wheelchair access and work in tangent with other accessibility elements such as patio stone tiling, ample turning space and pathway lights to create a more welcoming gathering space.

The 50th Nisshin Kogyo Architecture Competition: October 2023 Softwares Used: Rhino, VRAY, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign
Following the theme of the 50th Nisshin Kogyo Architecture Competition, Umbrella House tests the ideologies behind what can constitute a “large roof house.” From dissecting the different terms associated with the theme, several concepts emerged. A roof, at its core, signifies a place of rest, shelter and potentially a place for gathering. The first examples of such a structure could come from images of a bus shelter, a leaf canopy or even a simple umbrella.
The Umbrella House project is based upon the idea of a large community library experienced underneath a large flowing roof. Constructed out of wood, the organic roofing shape invites the sounds of rainfall to echo through the large open space below while visitors are encouraged to sit and read. The layout of the building itself is structured around the concept of three raindrops falling down on a surface of water where they begin to ripple outwards but not quite melted into one.
