Spotting a wild rhino feels almost prehistoric and, sadly, something that most people can only dream of. Poaching and habitat loss have combined to devastate the population numbers of this magnificent animal, meaning that encounters have become exceptionally rare. Thankfully, there are good and determined people who are reversing

the trend and, by visiting the Care for Wild rhino sanctuary, you will gain insight into the extreme conservation efforts necessary for the species longterm survival. During your time at the sanctuary, you will be contributing to this cause and will have closeup rhino encounters that are the privilege of only a few lucky people.

Working in partnership with globally recognised conservation organisation; Care for Wild, the world’s largest rhino orphanage, we have curated a truly unique and exclusive experience giving a privileged few behind-the-scenes access to this otherwise incredibly private sanctuary. Whether arriving by road or air, the isolation of the 28,000-hectare protected wilderness is fully appreciated, with nothing but seemingly endless mountainous plains in all directions.

Privately guided throughout, you will partake in once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as the recovery of baby orphaned rhinos, hand-feeding hungry teenagers and intimate one-on-one meetings with fully grown adults in their natural habitat. There is something truly visceral about such close connections with a species that has come so close to extinction.

During your visit, you will see behind the scenes of the sophisticated security operation, meeting those in charge as well as the K9 and horse units tasked with patrolling the expansive reserve. You will also enjoy game drives, bush walks and much more during which you will see a host of other animals. Care for Wild is committed to the entire ecology surrounding rhinos and places a strong emphasis on maintaining the whole web of life in the area.

After a day of exhausting and immersive exploration, you will retreat to your home away from home: the luxurious Rhino View Lodge. From its hillside location, affording magnificent views over the hills right at the heart of the sanctuary, the lodge boasts four spacious and opulent rooms. With cool natural colours, the rooms and communal areas are designed to celebrate the surrounding landscape. However, we recommend getting outside onto the gorgeous deck with a cool drink or taking a dip in the pool to experience the sounds of the environment more intimately.

In the evening, you may want to curl up with a book on one of the huge sofas, or swap tales of rhino encounters and other adventures on the

deck or by the fire. Whatever your preferred mode of relaxation, you will have eaten well: the dining experience is exceptional. With an elegant personal waiting service and an expert personal chef, dining at Care for Wild is well and truly part of the overall experience.

The following morning, you will have further experiences closely interacting with the rhinos, giving you a final opportunity to create life-long memories before your departure.

NOTE: A $500 per person donation to Care for Wild is built into the cost of the experience so, through your visit, you are making a huge difference to the conservation of rhino in South Africa.
