New Age Photography Jesus Chavez, photographer Jeanette Markman, adviser Monache High School Porterville, CA Our modern life is constantly surrounded with technology. This cleverly composed photo frames the subjects within a smart phone, showing not only the event but also the most trendy technology and manicure fashions.
Band Competition Caroline Creidenbery, photographer C. Dow Tate, adviser Shawnee Mission East High School Prairie Village, KS This photo is a case study in the techniques of both worm’s-eye view and framing. Looking up from below, the photographer was able to capture the piccoloist between her band mates. The use of both techniques makes it a compelling photo.

Hair flying in the wind and eyes alight with excitement, this unlikely team of students revels in the fun of the day. Though unable to see any other people, the cropping of the photo encourages the viewer to imagine fellow pairs of running, laughing, bonding schoolmates.
In what looks like a Homecoming parade, students celebrate while wearing Greek togas. Eyes squeezed shut, they shout enthusiastically for their school. The emotions and details captured make this photo one that still will be telling the story of the event in years to come.
