What is AUG: The Australian University Games (AUG) is a multi-sport competition involving over 7000 students from around Australia. Since their inception in 1993, the AUG has developed to such an extent that it is now the largest multi-sport event held annually in the country. 30 + Sports by day, epic social program by night. When is it: Sunday 23rd September to Friday 28th September Where is it: Adelaide, South Australia Why do it: It is the greatest Uni experience you can ever have. ECU has a strong tradition of performing well at the AUG, most recently ECU finished 10th overall at the 2011 AUG on the Gold Coast, the best interstate finish to date, and six places better than the previous record in 2009. 2011 ECU male captain Mark Van Winsen marked 2011 as one of the best games to date. “To travel from Perth and finish in the top 10 shows just how far ECU have come over the years. We want to build on this success and aim for top 5 in Adelaide at the 2012 AUG”. The 2012 Australian University Games will be held in Adelaide, the first time since 2006. ECU will be sending one of it’s strongest ever teams in 2012, we are looking to bolster our talent stocks with new and determined athletes.
As ECU’s 2012 Female Squad Captain, I would like to welcome you to be involved in the 2012 Australian University Games. AUG has been the greatest University experience to date, being able to represent your University on a national sporting scale cannot be beat. I have been to AUG’s in Perth and on the Gold Coast, and I am really looking forward to seeing what Adelaide has to offer. Adelaide has some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, with a night life to match, sounds like the perfect combination. Get involved in Adelaide 2012, and COME FLY WITH ME TO A.U.G.
