COSMETIC WORLD

BRANDING & SKINCARE PACKAGING DESIGN

I was approached by Toronto-based skincare retailer, Cosmetic World, to design packaging for a Korean range of skincare products for a forthcoming release. The brief was to bring the benefits of Korean skincare to the North American and European markets with a design that encompassed this .

Based on several discussions held with the founders of Cosmetic World, we agreed that the design should feel clean, fresh and minimalistic, to reflect the natural ingredients found in their product range.

Prototypes of the products are currently in production in South Korea, with the intention of them being released to the consumer market by early next year.

AXESUN

INFOgrAPHICS / PRESENTATION decks

Axesun serves a range of public and privately-owned mining organizations in Canada, providing infographics and presentation materials. The mining sector is a complex industry that generates vast pools of data, making it a challenge to understand the latest news and trends.

Axesun simplifies this process of understanding by creating visually-impactful and intuitive infographics, presentation decks and animations for clients. These would often be based on quarterly business reports and future yeild projections.

The strategy behind each slide is to democratize this industry down to its basic principles: location, geology, materiality and the equipment used in the mining process.

INSIDE THE NEWSROOM

LINKEDIN

LinkedIn has become an increasingly popular platform for businesses and individuals to connect for the purposes of recruitment, sharing of noteworthy information and as a support network throughout people’s career journey.

I was approached by a global, journalism job board to create a branding and social media strategy to establish its presence on LinkedIn. Inside The Newsroom will benefit greatly from having a presence on the platform, as its culture is very closely aligned with the supportive environment of LinkedIn. This also served as an opportunity to refresh its brand identity and positioning within the editorial community, to help continue its predominant status in the journalism market. The new branding and LinkedIn profile will be launched in early 2025, to coincide with the release of their upgraded website.

Comments: ‘Magazine-style’ font that makes it feel more ‘trendy’ and ‘cool’. Very merchandisable.

12” VINYL RECORD FRAMES

PRODUCT DESIGN & MARKETING

I have recently designed a bespoke, wall-mounted frame for displaying 12” vinyl records. I sketched several design options for how it could potentially look, with a focus on intricate detailing and spherical corner niches. The design was then taken into a 3d modelling software to create visual renders of what it could look like, whilst providing a prototype to work out the manufacturing process.

From the outset of this project, I have been working closely with a CNC fabrication company to ensure that the design can be manufactured efficiently, with minimal wastage. Various material options have been proposed for the frames, including coloured MDF, as well as birch plywood, with an overarching focus on sustainability.

Hotel Boutique Alicante S.XVII

FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHY

I was asked by a boutique hotel in Spain to shoot some experiential shots of their hotel lobby and bar area for promotional material. The setting had an unmistakable warmth and glow about it and I wanted to highlight this in all the images that I shot for the project.

The material palette of the internal space felt very tactile and had a subtle elegance that I attempted to capture in these images, all shot on a Fujifilm X-Series DSLR camera.

BRINDISA

MARKETING CAMPAIGN & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

I was involved in developing a marketing campaign for Spanish-food supplier, Brindisa, in their joint campaign against food poverty alongside the charity, FareShare.

The brief was to capture the essence of ‘gourmet cuisine’ but democratized to feel more inclusive and welcoming to those who would benefit most. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of designing this set of marketing materials, as good tasting food is something that I am incredibly passionate about, and believe that it should be available to all, not just a select few who are more fortunate.

RODIć DAVIDSON ARCHITECTS

COPYWRITING & SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

During my time at Rodić Davidson Architects - alongside working on luxury residential projects - I was involved in creating engaging content for their marketing and communication channels. This helped to further develop my skills in writing content in an architectural tone, as well as producing visuals for their website and social media.

I utilized various softwares in the Adobe CC Suite to edit and resize images to suit the designated platforms where each post was uploaded, including Instagram and Linkedin. I also edited short video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, which provided viewers with an insight into construction sites around the United Kingdom.

I was also involved in photographing company events and live projects, which often required attending building sites across key London boroughs in the United Kingdom.

D.I.Y | D.N.A

PRODUCT DESIGN & BRANDING

In 2018, I founded my own clothing brand, D.I.Y | D.N.A, which was a means of expressing ideas through illustration.

I arrived at the name - D.I.Y | D.N.A - as I felt that it encompassed the essence of the brand, which is very much a ‘do it yourself’ attitude towards creativity.

The intention of the collection was to create a body of work which could then be distributed on a physical market stall in London, allowing me to interact directly with customers. This was a rewarding process and offered an alternative avenue to D.I.Y | D.N.A’s primary online presence.

PRODUCT DESIGN & BRANDING

In 2013, I co-founded a clothing brand which raised £4800 through crowdfunding website, Kickstarter.

Before developing this brand, I firstly undertook training in traditional silk screen printing at Print Club London, in Dalston, and this is documented on the campaign page on Kickstarter.

A key aspect of this project was to create a brand and a logo that would be impactful, memorable and capture the bold aesthetic seen in the designs. HUB, YO.

STARCROSS FARM, surrey, uk.

Rodić Davidson Architects / Surrey County Council

I have been involved in a project involving the development of an existing farmstead site in Surrey. A key element of this brief is maintaining the visual appearance of the existing farmstead typology, so that it retains its historic character, both in terms of the existing site plan and key views from the main road.

The proposed scheme comprises five, new-build family dwellings, which are designed as per the existing cluster of barns, stables and a farmhouse.

I was involved in developing the plans for the proposed scheme, as well as elevation drawings, 3d views and perspective sketches for submission to the council.

BROMPTON LIBRARY, London, UK.

We were approached by the management of Beatrix House - a residential building in Kensington, adjacent to Brompton Library - to redesign the entrance to the two adjoined properties.

The existing facade was incongruent with the prestige of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Conservation Area, and required modernisation to help improve it. Equally, we wanted to establish a degree of separation between the entrance to each building, as people tended to get them confused on approach.

We came up with several design concepts for the clients, which were then refined to a single preferred optionpre-treated metal-cladding - and this was subsequently put before the council for their consideration.

BROMPTON SQUARE APARTMENT, london, uk.

Rodić Davidson Architects / Kensington & Chelsea Council

Brompton Square Apartment is a Grade II listed building within the Conservation Area of Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. On this project, I prepared a full set of listed building drawings for Pre-Application and Planning.

As part of the drawing set, I drew up the plans, sections and elevations of the existing, demolition and proposed schemes.

The application was granted consent in April 2024 for a full refurbishment of the existing property, including retention and relocation of original doors that are part of the historic fabric of the property. One of the conditions of the approval process was to prepare detailed drawings of doors, windows, floor build-ups and joinery, some of which are shown below.

1. Existing unoriginal skirtings to be replaced with more historically appropriate profiles

2. Existing unoriginal architraves to be replaced with more historically appropriate profiles

3. Existing unoriginal cornices to be replaced with more historically appropriate profiles

4. New floor finishes throughout. All existing timber floor boards are assumed to be non-original and would be retained where possible (Kitchen and bathrooms would require 18mm WBP plywood). Once all areas are made good, an overlay of new engineered timber flooring is to be installed.

5. Proposed bathrooms to include new tiling, sanitary ware and brass ware throughout

6. New structure to suit new layouts

7. New services routes throughout the flat, including new heating system and radiators, utilising existing service routes

to minimise any additional joist notching.

8. New sockets and switches throughout to suit new layouts. New small power, low level, wall & ceiling lighting including additional ceiling penetrations are proposed and AV install to suit new furniture layouts and to include associated re-wiring.

9. New under-floor heating within kitchen and bathrooms, plumbing and drainage runs to suit new room layouts and to include appropriate external penetrations. All new and replacement air bricks and rainwater goods to be cast-iron.

10. Windows to be replaced (apart from W4.01 and W4.02 in bedroom 1) with new slimline double-glazed windows, adhering to the historic listing specification.

11. New decoration throughout.

12. General repair works throughout.

13. All new doors and any existing doors retained to be upgraded to meet Building Regulations (Part B) requirements where needed. Style to match existing historically sensitive 4 panel design.

ESTUDIANTES INCUBADORA DE ARTES, VALENCIA

YR3 FINAL UNIVERSITY PROJECT

‘The Valencia Graduate Incubator Hub’ aims to encourage and support the city’s arts students to stay in Valencia beyond their studies, build their careers, and contribute to the city’s rich cultural heritage. The scheme celebrates its creative occupants throughout its four floors, with performance venues, flexible exhibition spaces, market stalls, studio spaces and a spacious public cafe.

The building has a glulam and CLT structure, and is wrapped in an aluminium louvred facade to minimise solar gain. Large arches at ground floor level invite the public into the building, and the edifice glows welcomingly at night.

PORTUGUESE HERITAGE TILING WORKSHOP, UK.

YR3 UNIVERSITY PROJECT

In our brief we were asked to create a small dwelling which facilitated a practical vocation, whilst responding to the urban environment of Canterbury’s city centre. My scheme provides the traditional implements required to allow a Portuguese artisan to create authentic Azulejos tiles and then stealthily adorn them to historic forms of architecture within Canterbury.

Azulejos tiles are found on the interior and exterior of churches, palaces, ordinary houses, schools, and nowadays, restaurants, bars and even railways or subway stations. They are an ornamental art form, but also have a specific functional capacity like temperature control in homes. Azulejos constitute a major aspect of Portuguese architecture to this day and are fixtures of buildings across Portugal and its former territories.

Historic building features OF CANTERBURY, KENT, UK

LONGPORT HIGH STREET , CANTERBURY, UK.

YR3 UNIVERSITY PROJECT

This housing development consists of 15 ‘live-work’ dwellings that offer commercial retail facilities on the ground floor in response to a lack of shops in the local area. The main focus of the commercial space is to provide more food outlets, as the demand for these is not currently being met.

The site is located in close proximity to Canterbury city centre, Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury College and University for the Creative Arts. It is currently used as a carpark for people travelling into Canterbury, but has a great potential to be reconfigured into a mixed-use development that better serves the surrounding area. People can be seen using it as a pedestrian crossing throughout the day, and my scheme aims to offer a dedicated pathway for people to continue doing this safely.

YR2 FINAL UNIVERSITY PROJECT

Framing has an indelibly rich and often untold history beginning with its roots in ancient Egypt - as a means of protection for mummies that were transported over long distances. The frame then evolved into a more ornamental object when it was adopted by the Byzantine church - the European Orthodox Christian community - with close attention paid to the aesthetic and sculptural possibilities of its form.

There exists an incredibly intimate relationship between architecture and framing, due to the parallel features that they share, such as columns, arches, pilasters and pediments. This project revisits the history of framing, whilst providing a space for professional framers to conduct their work to help reinvigorate public interest in this enduring and precious, human craft. There are five openings in the proposed building that have been uniquely-configured to frame historic pieces of architecture in Canterbury’s skyline.
