The vote was 232197, and was party-line among the Texas delegation. All 13 of the state’s Democrats voted in favor, while 22 Republicans were opposed.

But they said they would vote against impeachment because of the language in the articles of impeachment and the speed at which the House was moving.

Roy said Trump pressured Vice President Mike Pence to violate his oath and not accept the election results. That, he said, was clearly “impeachable.”

“His open and public pressure, courageously rejected by the vice president, purposefully seeded the false belief among the president’s supporters, including those assembled on Jan. 6, that there was legal path for the president,” Roy said.

“It was foreseeable and reckless to sow such a false belief that could lead to violence and rioting by loyal supporters whipped them into a frenzy.”

But Roy said he couldn’t vote for the article of impeachment drafted by the Democrats.

“Unfortunately, my Democratic colleagues drafted articles that I believe are flawed and unsupportable, focusing on the legal terms of incitement and insurrection,” he added. “Even noting impeachment does not require meeting a certain legal standard, that danger for open speech and debate in this body and for the republic is high.

A LITTLE SOUL CLEANSING IN ORDER

This is the last political column for while. Make no mistake, I voted for Donald J. Trump not once, but twice.

We had no way of knowing the outcome of the actions of a few-people who were determined to break into the Capitol of The United States.

Make no mistake, I never condone violence, it is an unacceptable action.

If you can’t get a outcome that you like in the ballot box, suck it up buttercup and hope for a stronger candidate next time.

Were all of the people who rushed the Capital, Trump supporters? Not likely, however, were they mostly Antifa, or BLM activists? It’s possible, but we can’t prove either argument.

Now, on to other parts of this last God Awful Presidential Election.

Was there fraud? Maybe, maybe not, however, I’ve been saying that there is one thing that political pundits have ignored.

I have been saying that demographics have changed. How severe was the shift?

Consider this. This is the first time that millennials have been able to vote in a Presidential election.

Why is this significant?

The younger voters, are in it for one thing and one thing only. WHAT’S IN

IT FOR ME? Younger voters have been snookered. They think their college debt will be eradicated. Just this morning I heard that Democrats have put the brakes on that program.

Poof, another one bites the dust? Let’s keep our eyes on that. I think I want to start a scoreboard to see how many political promises get buried.

Is the GOP dead? Possibly, why you ask? Another report indicates that the GOP is going to divorce themselves from Trump?

The report indicates that if that happens 70% of the GOP rank and file will leave.

Will that kill the GOP? I suppose it could. The bigger question is where will these voters go?

Will they become Libertarian? Or perhaps many will join the independent party.

Either way, the conservative movement will be dead in the water for quite some time.

What I fear most is many who voted for the first time will never vote again.

These people feel like “What’s the point of voting, my vote never counted anyway.”

It’s terrible to feel disenfranchised, but to be a first time voter, and feel like your vote does not count is a travesty our

constitution can’t stand.

How do we move on from here. All I am going to do is this.

I am moving away from conservative talk radio, at least for a while.

I have tuned into a station called the Gospel Station and I have found great peace in my life.

As of last Wednesday, Impeachment proceedings were continuing.

The resolution asked Pence “to immediately use his powers under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments in the Cabinet to declare what is obvious to a horrified Nation: That the President is unable to successfully discharge the duties and powers of his office.”

Yet even as the House was in the process of voting on whether to proceed with the resolution,

I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution,” Pence said in the letter, adding that invoking the amendment “would set a terrible precedent.”

We are supposed to be that shining star on a hill, however, we are right now considered, nothing more than a mud puddle.

Right now, I’m going back to my Gospel Music, so I can clear my mind.

Dear Dave, We just started teaching our seven-year-old about money. He’s very eager to learn, and he seems to be grasping the basic ideas quickly. He’s young, though, and of course he makes mistakes from time to time. Should we step in and fix things when a mistake he made means he can’t do something he wanted to do?

Ethan Dear Ethan, It’s always hard on parents when they see their children suffer because of a choice the child made. But sometimes it’s best to love them so much that you’ll let them make mistakes, and make sure they learn from them, while they’re still under your protection. Reality can be a great teacher when it comes to learning how the world works, and sometimes one sting from a bad decision when you’re young is all it takes to teach a kid a lesson that will last a lifetime.

As a parent, you’re always looking for teachable moments.

First, make sure you’re giving him a chance to earn some money. That means work, no allowances. We’re talking about kid-sized, age-appropriate tasks.

There’s a ton of value and self-esteem that go

hand-in-hand with being paid for a job well done. Once you pay him for the work he does, then you have chances for more teachable moments about saving, spending, and giving— and the importance of each.

If I were you, I wouldn’t run in and fix things. By this, I mean I wouldn’t just hand him money he didn’t earn so he can still get or do what he had in mind. But don’t fuss at him or brush it off, either. Gently explain why things didn’t work out the way he hoped.

Then, talk through what he might have done differently to help make the situation better next time.

Kids are smarter and often have more understanding and comprehension skills than we give them credit for. My guess, Ethan, is you won’t need to have this kind of conversation more than once or twice!
