District Governor Susan Tunnicliffe
Susan has held numerous positions with the Gananoque Lions, and spearheaded the Audio/Visual Screening program in her community and the installation of the Redefining Limitations Accessibility Ramp, allowing those with disabilities to access the river. Her progressively responsible positions within Lions (Zone Chair, Region Chair, 1st and 2nd Vice Governor for the District) have only increased her passion, enthusiasm, commitment and innovative ideas.
Lion Susan’s hope for next year is for our District to continue building upon the momentum generated by service, strengthen our numbers, increase our retention, build upon our strengths, and encourage and mentor new Leaders to carry on District A-4’s legacy.
Susan a occupé de nombreux postes au sein des Lions de Gananoque, et a été le fer de lance du programme de dépistage audiovisuel dans sa communauté et de l'installation de la rampe d'accessibilité Redefining Limitations, permettant aux personnes handicapées d'accéder à la rivière.
Les postes à responsabilité qu'elle a occupés progressivement au sein des Lions (présidente de zone, présidente de région, 1re et 2e vice-gouverneure du district) n'ont fait qu'accroître sa passion, son enthousiasme, son engagement et ses idées novatrices.

Susan has been serving as a Lion since 2011, when she joined the Gananoque Lions Club. After graduating from college, Susan worked for TD Bank, and the Ministry of Health’s public health laboratory in Kingston. She also holds three Masters of Photographic Arts degrees and is an internationally acclaimed Portrait Photographer.

Lion Susan’s beloved partner in service and personal chauffeur is Lion Brian Tunnicliffe.
Susan sert en tant que Lion depuis 2011, lorsqu'elle a rejoint le Lions Club de Gananoque. Bien que je ne sois pas un "technophile", je ferai de mon mieux pour aider les clubs à comprendre la nécessité de s'adapter au monde de la technologie. J'ai hâte de continuer à visiter les clubs et de rencontrer tout le monde en personne.

My goal for this year is to work with our District’s Clubs to help them embrace change in how we have been doing things and to help change the culture in Clubs that have been struggling. I feel that it starts with making the Clubs even more relevant in the community, which will help existing members feel like what they are doing matters and encourages new members to join. With new members, we will have new energy and new ideas for Service. New services will bring even more new members. It will also be important for our Clubs to embrace technology. Though not a ‘techie’, I will do my very best to help clubs understand the necessity of joining the technology world.
Je suis originaire de la région aurifère du Nord-Ouest du Québec, connue sous le nom d'Abitibi. J'ai passé la plus grande partie de ma vie adulte dans la région de la capitale nationale, à l'exception d'une période de 12 ans à Bath et à Courtice, en Ontario, où j'ai commencé mon parcours dans les Lions.
Ma partenaire Margaret et moi avons 6 filles, 5 petites-filles et 4 petits-fils. Je rencontrerai enfin le dernier d'entre eux à la fin du mois de juillet. Ils viennent de Brisbane, en Australie.
My partner Margaret and I have 6 daughters, 5 granddaughters, and 4 grandsons. The latest of which I will finally be meeting at the end of July. They are coming from Brisbane, Australia.

I am originally from the gold mining area of North-Western Quebec, known as the Abitibi. Most of my adult life has been spent in the National Capital Region, except for a 12-year period in Bath and Courtice Ontario, where I began my journey in Lions.
Mon objectif pour cette année est de travailler avec les clubs de notre district pour les aider à adopter le changement dans la façon dont nous avons fait les choses et pour aider à changer la culture dans les clubs qui ont eu des difficultés. Je pense que cela commence par rendre les clubs encore plus pertinents dans la communauté, ce qui aidera les membres existants à sentir que ce qu'ils font est important et encouragera les nouveaux membres à nous rejoindre. Avec de nouveaux mem bres, nous aurons une nouvelle énergie et de nouvelles idées pour les services. Les nouveaux services attireront encore plus de nouveaux membres.

Lion Roxanne Backes is a proud member of the Mountain Township and District Lions club of 28 years. Over the years she has taken on various roles within the club including treasurer, secretary, and president. She has also been the club’s advisor to the North Dundas Leos since their charter. She has also worked as part of the District A4 cabinet as Zone, Global Leadership and Global Service Chairperson. Youth projects have been near and dear to Lion Roxanne’s heart, as she has been chairperson of Lion’s Quest, Youth Exchange and Peace Poster. Outside of her Lions’ life, she is the wife of Lion Mark, mother of 3 and grandmother of 2. When not serving as a Lion, Lion Roxanne is a teacher and can also be found playing baseball or Lionhockey.Roxanne looks forward to working with the clubs of the district, to make the communities of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec even better places to live, work, and play.

A. Notice re: death of a Lion
The Lions Club President/Secretary or designated Lion should contact the family and offer the Lions Memorial Service to the family. Suggest this is a nondenominational and brief service to which Lions from their club and others are invited to attend. A Lions Service is usually held before or during visitation. The service may be conducted by the District Governor, District Officers or Club
club member (usually the Secretary) contacts the District Secretary AND the District Governor. If these persons are not available contact the 1st Vice District Governor.
The District Secretary will contact the Lions Clubs and Cabinet members by email with the appropriate information; and will submit this information to the District Web Master for inclusion on the website memorial service and memorial service recognition at next convention.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES
Family Member: The Family Member ship Program provides families with the opportunity to receive a special dues discount when they join a Lions club to gether. The first family member (head of household) pays full international dues (US$43), and up to four additional family members pay only half the international dues (US$21.50). All family members pay the one-time entrance fee (US$35).
Former Leo Member: Former Leos over the age of 30 who have been a Leo for at least a year and a day pay no en trance fee or charter fee when joining a Lions club. To receive the fee waiver, complete the Leo to Lion Certification and Years of Service Form and submit with the MMR.
Membership Options for New Lions
Regular Member: This is our “stand ard” membership. Regular membership is for community members interested in volunteering, serving the community and making our world a better place. Regular members pay an entrance fee (US$35) and full international dues (US$43). Additional district, multipledistrict and club dues apply.

Student Member: Student membership allows students to make new friends and help others in their community at the same time. Students enrolled in an educational institution who are between the age of legal majority and through age 30 pay no entrance or charter fee and half international dues (US$21.50). Students over age 30 who are joining a Campus Lions club pay a US$10 entrance fee and full inter national dues. To receive the studentmember dues rate, complete the Student Member Certification Form and submit with the MMR, or complete the certification on MyLCI. When chartering a club, complete the certification on the Report of Charter Members.
The Family Membership Program is open to family members who are (1) eligible for Lions membership, (2) currently in or joining the same club, and (3) living in the same household and related by birth, marriage or other legal relationship. To receive the family membership dues rate, complete the Family Unit Certification Form and sub mit it with the MMR, or complete the certification on MyLCI. When chartering a club, complete the certification on the Report of Charter Members.
Leo Lion Member: Leo Lion member ship allows current or former Leos between the age of legal majority and through age 30, who have been a Leo for at least a year and a day, to con tinue doing volunteer work with LCI as a Lion. Leo Lions pay no entrance fee or charter fee and pay half inter national dues (US$21.50). To receive the Leo Lion dues rate, complete the Leo to Lion Certification and Years of Service Form and submit with the MMR or club charter application, or complete the certification on MyLCI. To encour age Leo Lions to invite their friends, young adults between the age of legal majority and through age 30 who join a Leo Lions club receive the same fee waivers and dues discounts as Leo to Lion members.

Associate Member
An honorary member is not a member of the Lions club but may be granted honorary membership by a Lions club for having performed outstanding service.
A member-at-large is a member of a club who is unable to regularly attend club meetings but desires to retain membership in the club.

Active membership is the “typical” category of Lions membership. Active members receive all benefits, and must meet all requirements, of Lions membership.

Privileged Member
A life member is a Lion who has maintained active membership for at least 20 years, or at least 15 years if the member has reached age 70. Life membership may also be granted to a Lion who is critically ill.
• Mail payments to: The District Treasurername and address on the statement.
• The MyLCI statement reflects the amount due in both US & Cdn funds.
Club Payments and other LCI payments: Please clearly identify your payment (include the statement top, write the complete club name and club number on the front of the cheque, or send an invoice copy). • Do not pack cases or contact lenses. Contact Value Village and see if they will take the cases. The money collected will go to a charity.
• Keep your own Club’s count and time spent collecting, sorting and packing the glasses and report it to your Secretary for his/her Activity Report.
• Glasses must be properly packed before delivery to Lion Ross. The large quantity of glasses received precludes Lion Ross from packing or re-packing the boxes.
• Accept prescription and reading glasses, sun¬glasses and plastic and metal frames. Children's glasses are especially needed.
Lion Ross Baldwin will put the required shipping labels on the boxes and will fill out the bill of lading. Please drop your box(es) off at the residence of Lions Ross and Sandra Baldwin, 1030 Connery Avenue, Ottawa - just off St. Laurent and Pleasant Park in Ottawa South. It is suggested that you telephone them at 613¬737-7422 prior to delivery to ensure someone is there to receive the box(es).
