The NAMI Helpline is a free, nationwide peer-support service providing information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public. Helpline staff and volunteers are experienced, well-trained, and able to provide guidance.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline

988 is now the three-digit dialing code that routes callers to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (or 988 Lifeline). You can also call 800-273-8255. When people call, text, or chat with the 988 Lifeline, they are connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing 988 Lifeline network, made up of over 200 local crisis centers. These counselors are trained to provide free and confidential emotional support and crisis counseling to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and connect them to resources. These services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across the United States.

Crisis Centre programs strategically address the many issues facing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault while working to reduce the number of future victims through education and prevention. Safety services include: 24/7 hotline, expert accompaniment, and navigation through the systems (court hearings, welfare applications, etc.), counselling and legal aid referrals, safe shelters.

The program provides free services to individuals who have suffered physical, sexual, financial, or emotional harm because of the commission of a crime. Program staff and volunteers will respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims; assist primary and secondary crime victims in stabilizing their lives after victimization; assist victims in understanding and participating in the criminal justice system; and provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security.

The Victim Services Division is a program set up to aid victims of crime who are unaware of the avenues of assistance open to them. The majority of crime victims are not knowledgeable of the procedures necessary to obtain assistance, or they are too traumatized or injured to cope with the problem. The Victim Services Division is a free public service offering information, practical assistance, and community referrals to victims of crime in the Buffalo County area.

The S.A.F.E. Center is the Spouse/Sexual Abuse Family Education Center. The S.A.F.E. Center’s mission is to provide free and confidential services for those affected by dating violence, domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and stalking while bringing awareness and prevention efforts to all individuals across South Central Nebraska.

Provides a free public service to victims and/or witnesses of crime, as well as those impacted by suicide. The Lincoln Police Department created this unit to better serve its citizens who have experienced the trauma of victimization or suicide. What can the Victim Assistance Unit do for me? The Victim Assistance Unit advocates are available to discuss your questions and provide emotional support; explore potential resources related to your circumstances; assist with protection order affidavits or victim compensation forms; provide ongoing updates regarding cases and accompany you to court hearings; and assist you with victim impact statements.

Voices of Hope helps with filing protection orders, obtaining basic needs, developing a safety plan and provides presentations on subjects related to domestic violence and sexual assault. They also maintain a 24-hour crisis line, advocacy in response to calls from law enforcement and hospitals, walk-in services, counseling, support groups for domestic violence and sexual assault victims including a Spanish speaking support group for women who are or have been in an abusive relationship.

Shelter and support for battered women and their children. Services include safe shelter for women and children who are homeless due to domestic violence or sexual assault, crisis intervention services, individual and group counseling, transitional housing, support groups for women who have experienced violent relationships and children who have witnessed or have been a target of family violence, community education about the dynamics of domestic violence, advocacy and referral to community services, children's advocacy to help kids identify feelings, manage conflict and cope with family changes and limited food, clothing, toiletries and other emergency items.
