HONESTY 

You need to be honest in all your actions, and every communication you make. When people see you making honest decisions, they start to trust you. People appreciate the fact they can take you at your word, and clients like to do business with those they trust

Being honest & ethical means you do not deceive others by misrepresenting or exaggerating the facts. If you’ve given the wrong impression, provide the relevant information to your client or Fellow Student or educator and correct the misunderstanding as soon as possible.


INTEGRITY 

By being ethical with integrity, you earn the trust of others. Integrity means having a consistent character. It is demonstrated by your thoughts, words and actions. It requires you to have the moral courage to do the “right thing”. It takes inner strength to live up to mistakes and admit when a fault has been made.

There is great pressure to do otherwise, but ethical students and professionals live by principals they believe in. They fight for their beliefs – without sacrificing their honor for the sake of just getting a job done.


KEEPING YOUR PROMISES 

Your word is one of the most important tools in your arsenal as a professional. Keep every promise that you make The trust you build as an ethical professional means people like doing business with you. Take every reasonable effort to fulfill promises and the commitments you have made.

Don’t ever twist your words to rationalize or get out of doing something. Don’t justify why it’s okay to not complete a commitment.


LOYALTY 

Be loyal to your school & yourself.  Steer clear of conflicts of interest. If you ever decide Operate within a strong moral to leave a salon, do it on the best of terms. Give compass. As you graduate, you’ll reasonable notice. need to do the same for the salon you work at. If you demonstrate loyalty - it builds trust. It shows that you place a high value in the interests of both the other students, your school, and eventually the salon.

However, you should not blindly place loyalty above your other principles. Do not use it as an excuse for unethical behavior. Demonstrate your loyalty but always make an independent judgment.


FAIR 

Ethical stylists are committed to fairness in all that they do. They do not exercise their power for an unfair advantage. The do not use indecent methods to gain a competitive edge. They also never take undue advantage of another person’s difficulties and mistakes. Being ethical means that you are committed to being fair in your decisions and treat all people equally, with tolerance and acceptance of diversity. Being fair also means being open minded and admitting when a mistake has been made. It’s okay to also to adjust your position on something when convinced it is appropriate.


CARING 

This involves having a genuine concern for others, and a sense of compassion. Ethical salon managers are caring and kind to both customers and staff. They seek to cause the

least amount of harm and the greatest amount of good.

Being a caring person means understanding that there will always be an impact on things following a decision. They always consider the financial, emotional and long-term consequences of an action. They don’t simply ignore the needs of others.


RESPECT 

Being ethical means treating everyone with respect. You demonstrate this by being courteous and having an equal treatment of people regardless of who they are. It does not include using vulgar language. Respect is given because everyone deserves dignity, privacy and rights. They adhere to the rule that you must strive to treat others the way you would like to be treated.


OBEYING THE LAW

 An ethical professional

obeys the law. Ethical students don’t break the rules and regulations set up by the school.


EXCELLENCE 

Being ethical in life is also about pursuing excellence in everything that you do. Delivering the highest quality of service or products makes business sense. Always strive to improve. We should always be working to be better persons and professionals.


BEING A LEADER 

Demonstrate the principles and ethics you want to live by.

Take an active role as a leader to be a positive role model.

The best way you can enforce an ethical mentality is to lead by example.

Create an environment within your immediate surroundings that values decisions made on principles and standards of ethics.


ACCOUNTABLE 

Being ethical means holding yourself accountable. You accept accountability for your decisions and any consequences. An ethical student or professional will stand up and take accountability in front of their fellow students, their salon, and the community. Once you do this, do not continue to beat yourself up. Learn from it and move forward. Life’s lessons are powerful!


MORALE  Ethical students and

educators boost the morale of the campus. Sometimes in school, it is inevitable that Team Leaders and educators must take action to correct any inappropriate behavior of students. When this happens, it’s important to understand that all parties involved must have a discussion in a positive spirit of hopeful resolution and solving problems.

 Holding yourself and your

business/school to these standards will ensure you’re not only covered against any wrongdoings, but you’ll impress customers, fellow students, and staff alike. You’ll build a strong sense of trust with all of those around you and make more money! This is the foundation that takes Joseph’s College to the success level we want.
