Tribute to the Sea

I was fortunate enough to grow up by the sea. Every day the landscape was formed by wind and water. It was constantly reshaped, alive, and energetic.

My father and I used to walk along the shores and collect sea urchin shells, and then thread them onto a string in order of size. I still have them today – and a glance at them will take me back to the water and wind and wonder of those days.

As a child I was amazed by the complex and fragile shape of the shells.

It has inspired so much of my work since then.

I still wander shorelines, collecting the flotsam and jetsam of daily tides.

This project has inspired me to gather my beach booty – and I include them in this artisan collection.

It is my tribute to the sea.
