Abstract Every day around the world there is a new advance in science, engineering, medicine, computers, and so on all this novelties had affected society on a deep way, we have migrated into a new place where the digital world is a powerful force that domain the world, all previous technologies are migrating into a new path in which everything is connected. the books as previous dominant media have been influenced by this change nevertheless the printed form of the book need to confront that the electronic devices have been replacing the physical object, leading new theories about their future.
As designer, the analysis of the visual environment is crucial, We must understand the constant changes that the society is facing, this non-stoppable advance modifies the interpretation and the significance of the objects, all the easiness ways in which we can access information create a new vision of the world where every human been with a basic knowledge of computers can discover millions of data and information that can be used in lots of contexts from simple as getting a recipe to a difficult task as obtain a degree on any area of knowledge, nevertheless, all this is taking us into a divergent path. The computers as media have lead to the end of various previous sources of information by merging all this elements into his vast net that touch every part of the whole society, still there are elements that oppose this powerful force, The book as media and source of information has interacted in our evolution, the creation of a way to communicate with written words modify our brain in an extreme way a great percent of the information that we process every day are collected by our eyes1. Was the early prototype of the book, the clay tablet used by the Sumerians established a new path in our evolution, in the begging just for archive information about business and other information related to the daily life however this ancient civilization realizes the importance of having an artefact that engrave the information and more important that the data that is written could not be altered and can be transmitted without modification, the oral tradition as a source of information can be transformed based on what the person speaking is aiming when he is passing on the information. This important milestone drive a revolution, not just on early civilizations that based on the Sumerian invention create new devices that fulfil the important task of storage information in order to be preserved to the future. But seeing the written word and his principal device the book as main source of knowledge and media artefact.
