This essay looks into how Siza Vieira’s (known internationally as Álvaro Siza) architectural work is at one with his representational work. I will first look into defining him as an artist-architect, identifying throughout reasons leading to his way of working, first on a purely architectural basis, but later on relating it to his representation style, particularly hand sketching. Following this, a number of examples of works will be shown, providing specific examples of some of these relationships.
