Day 4 We had heard a lot about the beauty and serenity of the Pangong Tso lake, and when we did arrive at the lake on the third day, we understood how terribly short the descriptions had fallen of the real thing. We camped the night by the lake-side, observing the clear night sky devoid of any light pollution, and seeing stars there which we never knew existed. Global Himalayan Expedition

Day 5 Slipping into our cycling shorts, we pedaled our way through 30 kms of long winding empty roads from Leh to Nimoo, with a light drizzle and chilly winds for company. We had lunch with a local family in a hamlet nearby and spent the afternoon plucking apricots in their garden. From here, we drove to the scenic Lamayuru monastery, which would be our stop for the day. Global Himalayan Expedition

Day 6 The most exhausting and challenging day of the expedition was yet to come. Encountering the mighty Konksila pass located at 16000ft made our city-life problems seem petty in contrast. The feeling of achievement on scaling the pass on a cold day peppered with rain and light snow was something we all would keep close to our hearts for a long time to come. Day 7 After the mammoth effort of crossing Konksila the previous day, the trek to our rural village seemed like cake-walk today. 2 days of trek finally wrapped up at the main The participants quickly got down to setting up the solar micro-grid and we made every minute count..

Day 8 The D-Day! We set out to work early in the morning, and by late afternoon we had all the solar panels installed, wiring done, and light bulbs put in place. At 19:00 hrs, we went live with the 3 solar grids lighting up the village in a synchronized pattern. The emotions, the accomplishment, the celebration, and a sense of pride yet humbleness followed through the night. The 11th century old village finally had the electricity! Day 9 After a rejuvenating stay in the warm quarters offered to us by the villagers, we set out on our last day of trekking, the one which I like to call the "Stream crossing day", as we made our way across atleast 2 dozen streams, small and big. We camped the night at Chilling, a stone's throw away from the Indus River. Global Himalayan Expedition

Day 10 The last leg of our adventure was 4 hours of white water rafting. Squeezing ourselves into wetsuits and armed with colorful oars, we broke up into 3 groups that would mount the rafts kept ready for us. Guided by experts, and fueled by our own mad adrenaline rush, we flowed along with the Zanskar River, through the rough and calm patches. Global Himalayan Expedition

Day 11 This day saw us driving to Khardungla, the pass which boasts of the highest motorable road in the world. After taking a whole lot of photos and having a quick snack with some hot tea, we headed back to Leh, We all then went out to the city market for some last minute souvenir shopping, while trying hard to reconcile to the fact that the amazing trip was coming to an end. seeing the children smile when they were using the tablets and the internet for the first time, to going to one of the villages and distributing solar lanterns, where they have never had electricity before. My life has changed”- Lokesh Todi, YALE MBA Candidate,2014
