EDITOR’S NOTE

Yes, my real name is Jordan Flowers :) I have been a florist for over half my life and an event florist since 2012. I got my first flower shop job at Angleton Flower Shop when I was 15 and here I am, over 17 years of flower experience, still designing flowers and enjoying every moment of it. I started Jordan Flowers & Events in 2012 with the intent to have the most fun flower experience, but with luxury floral & decor rental options to make your event as stress free as possible. We do not do flower packages, we do not give our client’s a list of flower names and state “this is what you are getting.” I like to consider myself a flower guide. My job is to inform my clients of all of their in season, in style, on color, flower options and see what they love most. It’s important to know what you are getting on your wedding day and to be happy with everything we picked out together. I am passionate about what I do and love to share my passion with others to continue to make happiness bloom.

I created this free to the public magazine to help create a better guide to showcase what we do and our client’s options. I wanted to create content for our clients that is real, inspirational, and physical. We are fed up with PAID ADVERTISING from inexperienced or low quality vendors in expensive magazines/social media. In my response to this demand and these advertisers, I created our own events magazine funded by Jordan Flowers & Events for our clients and potential clients to know their options and have a memorable, stress-free event with legit options & vendors, free of charge.

FLOWER/EVENT MAP PLANNING

Event floral & decor road map. Steps to take once you are ready for a florist! Consultations must be scheduled in advance.

Once we meet at our scheduled consultation, we will go over our clients floral and rental decor options that are in season and fit the color, style of their event. A proposal and contract will be formed accompanied by a floral and decor vision board to match the proposal and create a better visual of the day.

Mock Set up: 30-90 days before your event, contact us to schedule your mock set up. You just let us know what line item you would like to see and we will invoice you separately. Rentals are complimentary.

Final Walk through! Approximately 30 days before your event, this walk through must be scheduled in advance with the venue, coordinator, and vendors who will be at your event to set up/ breakdown. After the final walk through your proposal will be finalized and paid for.

2-4 weeks in advance, we receive a timeline and contact from day of coordinator, finalize table count and details with the coordinator. Ready for your event day! On the day of the event, we prefer to arrive at your venue approximately 3-6 hours before your event begins.

GROUND ARRANGEMENTS

Lovely ground arrangements are always so versatile. Here we used the 2 from the ceremony aisle to create a beautiful floral skirt for the sweetheart table. We deliver all of our bouquets in a clear glass vase with water to preserve the ultimate freshness and transform into centerpieces. Then we added our floating LEDs to our Hurricane Vases and our Mercury Glass Votive tea lights.

TRENDING HARLOW STANDS

Harlow stands have been this year’s hottest event rental. The 42” tall stand is perfect for the ceremony and entry way, while the 32” stand is the perfect addition to an aisle and/ or guest table. When events last longer than a couple of days, we recommend using our silk and dried flowers to still bring that natural element of flowers and texture to life through rentals. Our team will bring the rental flowers on site the day of your event to add that little detail every event needs. Our silk flowers are not your basic Hobby Lobby floral. We use hand painted silk dyed and bleach flowers that you have to touch to believe they are faux flowers. We bring to life large silk flower installations from the corner of a room to the top of the ceiling our silk flowers and greenery with dried flower rentals will help reduce costs, waste, and last through your event for days. YOUR BOUQUET SETS THE TONE

When I sit down with couples to discuss wedding floral, I always begin with the bouquet. To me, the bouquet sets the tone for every wedding. The bouquet is what accompanies the guest of honor down the aisle. It tells a bit about the bride and the story of the couple. Some are more casual with lots of greenery, while others are more formal with full floral and no greenery. Each is unique to that person and all styles can be gorgeous. We recommend that the bouquet not be too large or colorful as it distracts the guests’ eyes from looking at the bride or groom and their entire first look down the aisle. It should be complementary to their dress or suit, but above all be the best and stand out when held up with the other bridal party floral. If you do not know what you want, you have come to the right place! First decide which style you like most. Here are a few of our favorites!

ASYMETRICAL

Asymmetrical designs are more of a modern design. What makes a bouquet more modern than others is how frequently they are used. For example, a round bouquet is what comes to mind most frequently when a bouquet is thought of, and that is simply because round bouquets are traditional and used the most. Asymmetrical are unique in design for several reasons: they do not require greenery but can have greenery; they can be designed to look like a natural fresh picked garden harvest or can be designed to look very full and organized with asymmetrical flower stem accents. They are by far one of our most popular bouquets at Jordan Flowers & Events because we are able (if requested) to design the bouquet to be held 2 different ways: asymmetrical traditional hold and, if held at a 90 degree angle, a cascading floral arrangement. CASCADING

Cascading bouquets are our next most popular design. They can be formal or informal, but nonetheless are a lush captivating design. What makes the bouquet slightly different than asymmetrical bouquets is that there is a back and front. The back of the arrangement faces the bride or groom holding them. There is an obvious difference and if held the wrong way will affect the bouquet’s presentation as the waterfall front is literally what makes this bouquet stand out most. In all of our bouquets that we design at Jordan Flowers & Events, we make sure to put a pearl pin where everyone’s (bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, etc.) thumbs should go to know that they are holding it the correct way. After all, you do not want to get your bridal party floral pics back and notice that everyone had their bouquets crooked, and you shouldn’t have to worry about if the bouquet is being held the right way when you are trying to pose for pics. AROUND TRADITIONAL

To me, this is one of the most traditional classic designs that is a safe bet if you want a timeless bouquet. Most all-round bouquets are designed where there is no front or back and you can hold it any way. They can have no greenery, greenery accents, or as we like to say a “greenery skirt” where greenery is all around hiding mechanics and stems. It is most popular in the winter months due to its formal design and always has the most premium full flowers used in it. Bridesmaids normally will have a smaller version of the bouquet with more greenery to set the bride’s bouquet apart. We always recommend having our VIP bouquet which is the largest, most premium, stand-out option..

NOSE GAY SINGLE STEM

Nosegay bouquets date back to the 16th century and were popularized in recent years when Kate Middleton walked down the aisle with a very petite, delicate bouquet. These bouquets are not as large and impactful. They are lightweight and are able to be carried with one hand if desired. This petite, timeless bouquet can be designed with little to no floral and can also be carried by bridesmaids. You can use it as a substitute for wrist or pin-on corsages if the mothers, grandmothers, or godparents would prefer to have something they don’t have to wear all evening, but still want something to set them apart during the procession and throughout the reception.

While there are plenty of other bouquet types and styles, finding the one you like best is a great starting point for you and your designer, coordinator, or florist. It is always a wonderful idea to see what you like best in each bouquet type. Our job is to see the similarities, and how we can incorporate just the right colors and flowers to make your floral perfect just for you and bring to life your dream wedding or event.

Geraldines in downtown Austin is such a wonderful place to host corporate events and groundbreaking ceremony parties. Here was a fun event for the Waterloo Waterline skyrise groundbreaking event. Buie and Co. did the planning Geraldines did the catering from their restaurant, and it was perfect. We did premium orchid modern flower mixtures with green moder accents and tropical leaves for a more corporate style and theme along with pillar candles and cocktail table arrangements for the smaller tables.

TABLES MATTER

You have booked your venue, then your caterer, now you are on to the tables and displays. The centerpieces tell about your event and what you want your guests to take home. While non verbal centerpieces tell about your party; the color, scheme, style, and add extra thoughtfulness to your display. Every item on your event or party should look thoughtful and be in balance with your table display (meaning they need to all match). I personally always love a display unique to the event that tells a little bit about the company, business, guest of honor, or couple. Here is what you need to know before visiting your Austin Fresh flower company; table sizes, table quantity, style, color, budget.

The most common rectangle tables at venus are 6 ft and or 180” round tables. These are the very easy collapsable tables you see more often. They accommodate 6-8 guests and do not require very large centerpieces as to leave space for the guests’ food. Rectangle 6 feet tables are not very wide so it’s best to use; greenery, candles, bud vases or compact arrangements. You want a centerpiece that is not in the way of the stage or guests directly across the table so they have to bob their head all evening. Round tables are the same; candles to set the warm romantic ambiance and a nice all around arrangement that is no larger than 12” in height and 10-12” diameter at its widest and higher or lower than the centerpiece starts to get in the way of your table dining ware and guests peripheral so it becomes annoying. Harvest tables are the 2nd most common dining tables. The wooden handmade harvest tables can accommodate 8-10 guests comfortably and are wider so guests have a lot more room for food and flowers. For a harvest table I always recommend urn asymmetrical arrangements or floral centerpieces that have greenery flowing out and down the sides of tables to have connecting greenery. Throw in some live candles and tea lights and you have the picture perfect dining table set up. For daytime events I recommend heavier flowers and less candles as it is light outside.
