Exploring the Role of the Alberta Business Plan in the Province’s Entrepreneur Pathways
In Canada, the majority of the economic immigration begins at the provincial level. In Alberta, for instance, there are three entrepreneur pathways that people may choose from. They will begin their application process by registering directly with Alberta and, if successful, eventually submitting an Alberta Business Plan. The program in Alberta is known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). According to the official Alberta website, the AINP “is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills to fill job shortages in Alberta or be planning to buy or start a business here. They must also be able to provide for their families.” The three entrepreneur pathways under the AINP with will require an Alberta business plan are: · International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream – This program is for students from other countries who have graduated from certain Alberta postsecondary institutions that wish to start a new or purchase an existing business. · Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Program – Foreigners with degrees from abroad who want to launch a start-up or innovative business may apply under this program.
