Curtis Jeré was the shared pseudonym of the design company’s two founders, American artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels. The brothersin-law began collaborating in 1963. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Curtis Jeré created statement metalwork design pieces, ranging from the representational (as we see here) to the abstract.
This is a striking example of Curtis Jeré wall sculpture. The metal forms repeat in intricate geometric patterns of squares and triangles. Freiler and Fels use a traditional nautical form to experiment with mid-century design concepts and interior aesthetics.
