Tuin 039 CoDam

CoDam is an school for technology located on the Marine terrain in Amsterdam. This garden is an empty space on the school’s property between the militarty base and the school’s building. it is a place where people can sit or walk around from the street to the other side of the building.

The pathway makes walking through this garden to the essential places easier and more inviting. The plants were selected based on the the amount of light they need since there are existing trees, casting a lot of shade.

Pieter Baan Centrum

An old mental hospital which is being renovated into living and working spces. Callbacks to the old functions of the zones were reimagined creating updated versions of these old zones. There are living quaters with a semipublic garden. an entrance with an integrated water feature which solves drainage problems. A recreation zone, sport zone and a semi permiable membrane in the form of the old wall. This wall connects the zones of the site as well as defining it.

A rooftop garden surrounded by residential buildings. The pathway connects all of the buildings and important enterances leading the user through the waves of plants. The planting is made up of mostly edible plants whcih grow at various heights. The heights are used to create the waves and as the user walks through from all angles the waves can be experienced.

De Ruyterkade is located to the east of the Amsterdam Centraal Station with train tracks running past the south side of this site. The site has a partially built unused metro tunnel. The site is located behind a wall of buildings and is forgotten just as a back yard is mostly fogotten. This design uses the fact that the trains transporting numerous people to and from Amsterdam also experience this site as a front yard to turn it primarily into a temporary exhibition space while maintaining its backyard features.
