RSL SEEKS 1ST-EVER TEXAS ROAD VICTORY:

Real Salt Lake heads south to Houston Thursday seeking to break through the 0-17-3 all-time mark on the road in the State of Texas across all competitions, including the 0-7-1 mark away against the Dynamo ... Perhaps the first visit to a new venue - BBVA Compass Stadium in downtown Houston - during an international FIFA set of dates will be the cure for RSL ills in the heat/ humidity of South Texas ...

RED CARD HISTORY:

The teams have combined for 8 red cards in 13 games dating back to 2007, but none since 2009, when a total of five ejections occurred in the series ... On three occasions, multiple red cards were issued in the same game, one each to RSL and HOU ... The list, with goals conceded after ejections and minutes played at advantage: DATE GAME 10/15/07 RSL vs HOU 10/15/07 RSL vs HOU 07/03/08 RSL vs HOU 06/20/09 RSL at HOU 08/15/09 RSL vs HOU 08/15/09 RSL vs HOU 09/19/09 RSL at HOU 09/19/09 RSL at HOU

TWO TEAMS HUNGRY FOR AN MLS WIN:

RSL’s 1-0 win Saturday against DC is the lone victory for either side in the last 9 combined MLS games, RSL posting a 1-3-1 MLS mark while HOU is 0-2-2 in its last four ... Each side owns a CONCACAF Champions League result in that span, RSL defeating Tauro FC (PAN) at home and HOU drawing on the road at Olimpia (HON) ...

ONE WIN AWAY FROM 15 FOR 3RD YEAR:

An RSL win Thursday would allow the club to become just the 2nd in MLS history (non-shootout era) to reach the 15-win plateau in 3 consecutive seasons ... The 2005/06/07 D.C. United squad is the lone MLS club with that accomplishment, although this year’s Los Angeles Galaxy needs just 2 more victories this season to reach the milestone ... Three points at Houston - a place it has never won would allow Jason Kreis’ side to match the club-high 15win total achieved in both 2010 and 2011 ... RSL needs 4 points in its final 6 games to reach the 50-point plateau for the 3rd consecutive season, also becoming only the 2nd-ever MLS side to do so (DC ‘0507) ... LA can also join this club with 7 more points ...

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK CLEAN SHEETS:

Real Salt Lake’s shutout at home Saturday against D.C. United gave the club its 3rd consecutive clean sheet across all competitions ... RSL had concluded a 3-game/6-day stretch on Aug. 24 in Philadelphia with a scoreless 0-0 draw at PPL Park against the Union, 72 hours after after defeating Panamanian champion Tauro FC 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium ... GK Nick Rimando and the RSL rearguard have not allowed a goal in the last 270 minutes in MLS or CCL play, last allowing a score on Aug. 18 by David Ferreira at the death in the 1-2 home loss to FC Dallas at Rio Tinto Stadium ...
