Jonathan Grant Galleries is proud to present a rare and highly important collection of Peter McIntyre drawings made whilst he served in the campaigns in Crete and the Western Desert and Italy during World War II. McIntyre was appointed Official War Artist for the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Forces (2nd NZEF) by General Bernard Freyberg on 1 January 1941.
The exhibition also features drawings by artist and political cartoonist Neville Colvin, who also served in the 2nd NZEF in Egypt and Italy. An important contributor to The N.Z.E.F. Times during the War, Colvin is recognised as the creator of 'Clueless' and other witty sketches parodying life amongst the troops.
