Sweets Catalog Companion Guide

For over 100 Years, the Sweets Catalog (and other similar services) has been helping architects spec for their designs. As the requirements for modern building have increased, the timelines by which they are delivered have condensed, and the complexity of each individual part has grown, the architect has become more and more divorced from the creation of the individual elements within a building, instead relient on the mass produced element.

The Sweets Catalog fulfills this need. Our catalogs have grown to fit the innumerable amount of products on the market, made inspecifically for whatever need you might have. This document (complimentary with your purchase of the 2025 Sweets Catalog®) is here to help you navigate the volumes of this years edition.

Find inside a complete list of the divisions within this edition, as well as reference to what volume you can find the associates products in. You can also find a few exemplary products related to these categories along the way. Enjoy!

Made possible with the help of MasterFormat®

MasterFormat is the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry’s gold standard for organizing and communicating specifications and work results for construction projects.

Unify and Organize Your Projects

MasterFormat unifies your project under a common standard – connecting designs, building products, preconstruction activities, estimates, and contracts, and construction – supporting all phases of a safe, efficient construction project.

Organize and communicate specifications across project phases with MasterFormat numbers and titles

Provide the basis for organizing construction documents

Standardize and manage building products, cost codes, estimates, contracts, and change orders

Licensing MasterFormat

MasterFormat is available through three licensing options:

Single-user licenses

Enterprise license and CSI resource bundles

Digital API access through Crosswalk®

To license MasterFormat for your company, enterprise licenses for multiple users are available. Contact our team for a quote based on your estimated number of users. Broaden your professional development roadmap with CSI resource bundles, including discounts on CDT courses and prep materials, to onboard best practices across your organization to complement your use of MasterFormat.

Who Benefits from MasterFormat?

In every phase of a construction project, MasterFormat is an essential resource to produce projects that are safe, up-to-code and long-lasting. MasterFormat is relied on by:

Construction specifiers, architects, and engineers

Design, estimating, and preconstruction teams

General contractors, project managers, and facilities managers

Building product manufacturers

MasterFormat is the foundation for leading specification software solutions such as MasterSpec, SpecText, National Master Specifications (NMS), Speclink, and SpecsIntact systems, and is instrumental to the development of the ASTM standard for sustainability assessment of building products.

What changes were made in the 2020 Edition?

Updates include, but are not limited to, a significant update to Division 28 sections for Fire Detection and Alarm. These sections are now organized to correspond to NFPA 71 allowing specifications to be written in a way that aligns well with this standard.

Can I view a list of the changes made? Upon release of MasterFormat 2020, users can visit the Revisions section of the CSI website to view changes made to the standard. Purchasers of MasterFormat also receive the MasterFormat Transition Matrix which lists all changes made in the newest edition of MasterFormat.

How do I get my product specified in MasterFormat?

MasterFormat does not contain specifications or specification templates. CSI takes steps to avoid use of product or company names when assigning MasterFormat titles. If you think that there is not a place to specify your product currently contained in MasterFormat, you can propose a revision on CSIResources.org.

How much does it cost to access the MasterFormat numbers and titles on CSIResources.org?

Only users who have purchased the latest edition of MasterFormat, are CSI or CSC members, or Crosswalk licensees can access the Numbers and Titles, Introduction and Guides, and the full online content of the MasterFormat standard. It can be accessed from the MasterFormat page or via the Crosswalk API.

Take all the worry and hassle out of finding the correct product for your design! Just browse the catalog and pick a preexisting item!
