Singapore - Dubai has long been a popular international tourist destination for Western and European holiday makers. From the middle income to the rich and famous, Dubai offers a unique experience for every visitor if you know how to uncover its hidden treasures in the sand.
As Asian economies grow stronger, Singaporean tourist arrivals to Dubai have increased dramatically over the span of just 5 years. Tourists from Asia account for more than 58% arrivals. And out of that 58%, 9% were from Singapore.
The reason why Singapore is chosen as the launch pad of a massive US $200 million dollar rebranding campaign is due to the country’s persistent economic growth and wealth overtaking other countries in the region as well as strong government support for businesses. Dubai is also looking to build stronger business relations with Singapore in addition to tourism.
The Dubai rebranding 6 months campaign starting from August 2019 - January 2020 might seem short in terms of trying to influence and change tourist mindsets of Dubai being an attractive holiday destination but this is just the tip of the iceberg. If successful, the campaign in Singapore will be extended for a further 2 years and similar campaigns will be rolled out to cover other countries in the region including China.
