Growing up as a second-generation Asian-American, I struggled a lot with "fitting into the norm." The first actualization was my last name: Tran, a last name that doesn't fully represent my culture. As this magazine continues-- I touch on other details of feeling excluded-- such includes being "not-so-academically-intelligent" amongst my peers (how I felt as Asian-Americans were often stereotyped as being automatically "smart"), my interesting personality of not identifying with a singular central trait (either introvert or extrovert), and how my beliefs of gift-giving is different from many others. "Uncultured" not only depicts who I am, but rather, shares the beauty of self-discovery and uniqueness. Hope you enjoy!
