Who we are...

Launched as a tiny start-up in 1993 we have grown organically to become the UK’s leading authority in mother and baby boutique retail. We started by designing French nautical style baby & children’s wear. Each year we added new collections so we now also offer maternity, nursing, gifts and toys, nursery products and furnishings, all designed by our team in London.

Despite our growth we are still run with small company values and headed by our founder.

We empathize with our customers and thrive on the closeness we build with them via social media. Our designs are practical yet fun; merging classic Breton with quirky British-ness. We are proud of our quality, business ethics and customer service. All this has won us the best accolade ever – we are loved by Moms and Dads across the world.

Founded by Laura Tenison, still the CEO today! In her 20’s she relocates to Brittany, France. While recovering in hospital after a bad car accident, her ward neighbor complains about the lack of good catalog children’s fashion, and the idea for JoJo is conceived; Breton influenced, quirky British fashion via mail order.

1992

The first team members are recruited (mostly still with the company today). Some lucky PR and an eclectic maternity collection get the brand noticed and customers flow in.

1993

1995

JoJo Maman Bébé launches from a tiny shared office in London. The first catalog offers 30 styles of maternity & baby wear. The ‘head office’ in Wales is her parents’ garage.

After years of trading out of various sheds and garages (and driving her family mad), JoJo finally buys a warehouse in Newport, Wales to help with growing demand.

1997

JoJo launches its first website early on, when 99% of internet users are computer geeks, and most people don’t know what the www is.

1999

Laura receives an MBE for services to business in the Queen’s New Year’s honors list.

2002

2003

JoJo opens its first store in Battersea, London. Old fashioned customer service and highly trained staff prove to be a hit. Within 10 years JoJo becomes the UK’s favorite maternity & children’s boutique.

JoJo celebrates its 20th birthday. The mission today is the same as it was in 1993: to design gorgeous collections and innovative products, whilst offering exemplary customer service, being loyal to our suppliers, sensible about the environment and respecting our teams.

The JoJo From a Mother to Another recycling & charity gifting initiative saves up to 50 000 items of good quality clothing & 22 000 pairs of shoes from landfill a year.

Helping Syrian refugees & children in need in the UK.

Now with 750 employees & 75 stores across the UK & Ireland, JoJo comes to the attention of the world’s press when worn by the British Royal Family.

The international department launches with trade fairs in New York. The collections are a hit and agents are appointed across the States & Canada.

JoJo is now sold in 40 countries across the world.

2012

Not content with just donating to charity without getting involved, JoJo joins forces with Nema in Mozambique.

Working to relieve child poverty together they have built 5 schools, feed 1000 children a day, buy ambulances and set up enterprize projects.

2016 Following much demand, it was decided that the American Moms & Dads make the perfect customer base for JoJo, as company values, style and ethos resonate so well.

The latest JoJo recruit joins the team in London. Eloise, a vintage Citroen HY Van is given a makeover and begins her travels all over the country, spreading the JoJo word.

To facilitate excellent customer service & fast deliveries, the new JoJo DC opened in June 2015 in New Jersey.
