When I started the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB) qualification, my aim was to gain a strong foundation in business and finance. I also wanted to improve my career prospects with a qualification from an internationally recognised industry body.

I was attracted to the idea of completing an online course as it was more flexible than traditional classroom learning. I could study on my own schedule and at my own pace. The Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business course was very well structured and allowed me to learn at my own pace. The subject matter is presented in a clear and easy to understand way with plenty of online resources to help me along the way.

I have found the practical content especially useful; being able to watch videos explaining each topic has really helped me understand each concept much better than if I had just read about it myself. The interactive exercises linked to each section were also very helpful – they ensured that the subject matter had been properly digested before moving on to the next lesson.

The exam was straightforward and very similar in format and style to the online practice exams provided by Kaplan Financial, Last year, I made the move from London to Dubai. As a financial professional, I was keen to expand my knowledge and increase my qualifications. The Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB) qualification is equivalent to one-third of an ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification and provides a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

The ICAEW CFAB qualification is well known in the UK and can be studied online. It doesn’t require previous qualifications or experience and you can study at your own pace. Crucially, it also provides exemptions from some of the exams when progressing to a full ACA qualification in the future.

I have always had an interest in finance and accountancy. However, it took me quite a while to find the right qualification that would allow me to study in my own time, at my own pace and that would fit in with my busy schedule. When I discovered the ICAEW CFAB qualification, it seemed like the perfect option for my needs. It didn’t require previous qualifications or experience, I could study online at any time (including on my mobile phone using the Kaplan app) and it provides exemptions if you later choose to progress onto a full ACA qualification.
