That’s why we ’ ve poured so much care into our intentional program and our cosy, custom-built environment. By taking the time to truly get to know your child and what makes them shine, we ’ re here to help those transitions feel smooth, supported, and maybe even a little bit magical, for both of you!

Welcome Message

I am a passionate educator with over 20 years of experience working with children across the early years, and I’ve been proud to teach at John Wollaston Anglican Community School for much of that time.

I am deeply committed to the formative early years of a child’s development. I believe every child is a unique individual - a competent, capable, and independent learner - who will flourish into a confident, resilient, and socially connected person when supported in a nurturing environment.

My philosophy is grounded in a play-based, holistic pedagogy that encourages curiosity, exploration, and wonder. I believe childhood should be filled with fun, mess, and “grotty” experiences, because that’s how we make sense of the world around us

At JWACS, we have a fantastic opportunity to offer a unique and meaningful playgroup experience, and I’m thrilled to be part of it.

It’s wonderful to have you as part of our community.

9:20am - 9:30am Morning Tea

After Mat Time, it’s time to sit down together for morning tea Children wash their hands before enjoying a delicious platter of seasonal fruit and vegetables, freshly prepared onsite in our canteen by qualified staff. It’s a lovely opportunity to practise healthy habits, enjoy new tastes, and share a relaxed moment with friends.

Just like our morning routine, we also enjoy outdoor play as part of the session. Children are encouraged to explore the natural environment, engage in active play, and build their physical skills through climbing, running, digging, and imaginative games. FAQ’s

How many children can take part in a session?

To ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive environment, we cap our playgroup numbers at 15 children per session This allows us to give each child plenty of attention and space to explore, learn, and have fun

Do I drop and go?

Parents and caregivers are kindly asked to stay with their child or children for the duration of the playgroup session. This helps ensure your little one feels safe and supported while also giving you the chance to engage, connect with other families, and enjoy the experience together.

Playgroup is for children from birth to 4 years old. How do you cater for all ages?

Our playgroup is thoughtfully designed to support children across this wide age range by offering a variety of activities that encourage exploration and learning at every stage. From sensory play for our tiniest visitors to more complex building and imaginative play for older toddlers and preschoolers, there’s something for everyone. We create a flexible, nurturing environment where each child can engage at their own pace, with plenty of opportunities for social connection and discovery

My child has allergies. How do you manage this during playgroup?

We take allergies very seriously and strive to provide a safe environment for all children Please make sure to inform us of any allergies your child has before the session. Our qualified staff work closely with families to accommodate dietary needs, especially during morning tea, and we carefully manage activities to minimise exposure to allergens. If you have specific concerns, please don’t hesitate to talk with us so we can work together to keep your child safe and comfortable.

What is the cost of playgroup?

Our playgroup sessions are completely free! We’re delighted to offer this opportunity for families to connect, learn, and have fun together without any cost

How do I book into a playgroup session? What if I can’t make it?

To book a spot, simply register by contacting Mrs Seal, our Early Learning Centre Receptionist If you find you can’t attend a session, please let us know as soon as possible by calling ELC Reception by 9495 8166 or emailing elc@jwacs.wa.edu.au. This helps us offer the spot to another family waiting to join, ensuring everyone gets a chance to participate. We appreciate your cooperation!

What happens if the playgroup is cancelled?

If the playgroup is cancelled, we will notify all participants as soon as possible via email/phone. Please check your messages regularly for updates.

Session 2 is close to lunch, can I bring lunch for my child?

Unfortunately, we ask that you do not bring lunch for your child during Session 2 Managing food brought from home during session times can be challenging, especially with our nut-aware and allergen-safe environment We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and consistent routine for all children
