SMITHFIELD — Johnston Health has recognized Elsie McClain, secretary for the spiritual care department, as Ambassador of the Month. Health in 2004, McClain retired with AT&T after working for 31 years. She started out as an operator and then moved to the business office and then to the engineering division. McClain grew up in Pine Level. She now lives in Selma and has a grown daughter and two grandchildren. Through the ambassador program, Johnston Health recognizes employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. They deliver quality care, foster teamwork and offer excellent service. In addition to a designated month-long parking space, McClain will receive eight hours of paid time off.
